Been playing a hell of a lot of the XCOM Long War mod recently. Don't know when I'll be back to do MotN or other things.

It's been a while since I've done this (over a year actually), but IIRC you'll need to replace one of the normal selectable characters' spritesheets with a custom one (same filename too). Then, when you go to choose a character in-game you should see your character replace the slot of the overwritten one. You have to be careful though, because if the dimensions and setup of the new spritesheet don't match the old one, weird visual issues could happen.

IGIPNP What is the file in the spelunky folder that has the sprites in it?

Grey Mayo The Windows Steam version of the game could have a directory something like "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Spelunky\Data\alltex\PLAYERS". That's where you'd find the spritesheets for modifying characters. I actually don't recall if this step is necessary since it's been so long since I've done this, but it's quite possible you might first need to "unpack" the game's textures before you can modify and then repack them. If that is the case (and you'll probably know if you don't see anything like an "alltex" folder anywhere), search online for custom spritesheets for Spelunky or a texture unpacking tool for the game and that should lead you to instructions on where to download the simple unpacker/repacker and how to use it. It's not too complicated, don't worry, you just need to find it if you need it.
