I really enjoyed watching this video and would love to see more of this! Thanks for making it. I have actually never heard of this game before this video and now I’m considering playing it.

Lufia 2 was one of the absolute best games I ever played. There were so many intricate details in the gameplay that just brought to a level beyond even the FF series. Although, I would say FF6 was prob closest in the SNENS era Edit: Autocorrect change to Lufia to Lydia lol. Change it back.

Great content for a great game, but, say it with me: LOOOOFIA, not la-fia. Also maybe a bit long talking about bugs and glitches, including ones that random players are very unlikely to encounter like the tas ending glitch, but i digress. Luckily, all these problems have been long-since fixed by fan-patches, and I'm sure repro carts exist with them for those that only want to play on real hardware. ...And you explain why you mentioned the former and directly mention the latter as soon as I unpause the video. It's like you were listening!

1:00:52 important to notice in the mirror scene is Iris actually looking over and shivering when she looks into the mirror. She knows what that means.

18:28 Wait... 5...? 5 forms?? FOOMY FINAL FORM IS A NINETAIL FOX??? WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?! I NEVER SAW THAT! Was that an exclusive feature of the american version or something? What the hell?? Edit: holy fuck, all of them have a 5th form... And you can get the dragon eggs 3 more times and then fight an optional boss??

Lufia and Lufia II will always hold a special place in my heart. I'll never forget the first time I rented both of them from a local blockbuster. (Back in myyyyy day. 👴) The beginning of my journey into the realm of jprg goodness. 3:57 Priceless... 8:28 Great point. A generic plot can work with likeable characters and with proper delivery. 24:03 The egg dragon reminds me of ProZD's joke skit about collecting eggs as a forced-mini-game for the best ending.

One year later. I am watching this again. Behind FF6, this is probably my second favorite JRPG of all time. Love everything about it. Other underated gems imo are Tales of Phantasia and Seiken Densetsu 3 (Secret of Mana 2)!! (highly reccommend to any genre lover) EDIT: that even just talking about the end of this game makes me so emotional, is just another sign of how great this game is.

Thanks for making this beautiful hommage, made me nostalgic. This game sits besides the best of the best in the golden era of RPGs. Fun fact: Maxim and Selan dies in the Tower but the power struggle in the end also rends Artea blind. You learn about it in Lufia 1 meaning he’s been living blind for over 100 years.

The story flow with episodic sub plots feels very much like the flow of an anime series. Most fantasy anime dont just go straight to the main plot points, they expand the world and introduce people, destinations and drama.

This game is incredible and is definitely underrated. It also boasts one of the most difficult challenges of any SNES RPG with the 100 floor Ancient Cave. One of the few challenges I never had the patience to actually clear. Whenever I got to the Jelly at the end up he would always run away before I could kill him. Maybe I'll try again one of these days, if my cartridge save battery isnt dead lol.

its funny how different games succeeded in different countrys over the world. lufia is a great example for this. it was a BLAST here in germany, everyone had it, EVERYONE played it, and its success was on par with secret of mana, terranigma, mystic quest legends and illusion of time...... odd right? and you prolly dont even know what terranigma, mystic quest legends and illusion of time is. well, did you know that germany never had a chrono trigger or earthbound release AT ALL? i just guess that they did a simple coin flip on every nes and snes RPG, heads means a release in europe and tail means a release in north america. seriously, its so hard to understand what happend back in the days when it comes to rpg releases. GLADLY, i was very close with a game store owner back in the early 90s, and i had a converter cartridge for my snes to play north american releases as well. so i had the opportunity to play european/pal and noth american/ntsc releases on my snes. it also forced me to learn english at a very young age........ i swear, i learned 90% of my english skills from english only translated rpg releases for early nintendo consoles and the ps1 and dreamcast. god i wish i could have shared my experience with chrono trigger back in my schooldays, but NOBODY knew the game................ so if you ever wondered why secret of mana is rated much higher in overall rpg rankings worldwide, its simply because chrono trigger had no european release!!!!!! i could write books about my childhood experience with console games. like did you know that duck hunt is EXTREMELY uncommon and unknown in europe. yes, it had an official release as a pal version, but it was NOT part of the 2in1 game launch release here in europe. instead of duck hunt + mario bros 1, we had WORLD CUP + mario bros 1!!! which makes totaly sense if you think about it. the "hobby" of hunting and guns is pretty much not existing here in europe, but EVERYONE loves football. thats why a PAL duck hunt copy is rather expensive, compared to its US release that is worth like 50 cents. some of you guys might remember the confusion when ff7 for ps1 hit the market. where was ff 4, 5 and 6? turns out ff 3 is orginally ff 6 and they skipped 3 games in north america. i bet you knew this one.... but did you know that we had NO release whatsoever of ANY final fantasy game here in europe? so imagine OUR confusion here in germany when final fantasy 7 came out, because for us, it was LITERALLY the first. (well, not for me, because i was able to play the ff 3 north american release.... i mean ff 6............ yeah right) :) its all so confusing to me, because english is the worldwide international language anyways........ so if you made the effort to translate a japanese game into english, why on earth would you ONLY release it in north america, but not in europe? back to the lufia topic. the game is not called lufia 2 here in germany, but just "lufia", and as i sayd, its FAR away from beeing a hidden gem here in europe, it was prolly in every european player collection!!!!!!

This game had such bittersweet side characters, both playable and non-playable. Almost forgot just how bad ass Dekar is. If I was making a list of side-characters who deserve their own game, Dekar would be way uo there. And Tia ... damn she got left out in the cold. If it wasn't so realistic it'd just make me mad. I feel worse for her than Maxim and Selan.

The capsule monster system was so damn cool, it was very much pokemon but several years prior to pokemon. And the casino was so addictive that it would probably make a game straight-up illegal to release today in some jurisdictions.

Technically Lufia II was a few days before Pokemon. But I never realized a couple of things upon playing this game countless times. I knew it was basically a Zelda knockoff in a way, but the taking from other franchises as Dragon Ball I never realized until now. I love Lufia II for its originality and def.. the music and story. I feel like this game was on top of its game and they just routed to much away from this design and appeal, that's mainly why the rest of the series completely tanked and failed.
