I love Kamakura and would recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat. But I would never say Kamakura itself is underrated, there are already quite a lot of tourists and it is well developed for tourism. (On the contrary, I know quite a few people who went only to see the Great Buddha and then walk Komachi-dori and said Kamakura is overrated for them.) It depends on what you do. I like to go to the beach, jump in the ocean for a bit and then hike the mountainous woods to some temples and then go to Zeniarai Shrine. Also Enoshima is always great for couples. So my takeaway would be: Kamakura has many underrated spots.
@yortravels6 күн бұрын
When I was there, I noticed that most people were concentrated in Komachi-dori, the Great Buddha, and Tsurugaoka Hachimangu. The moment we went outside these places, it was almost empty. There were barely any visitors in Kencho-ji or Sasuke Inari Shrine, even though these places were really stunning. So yes, I agree with your takeaway, and I would love to revisit Kamakura to see other places I missed (like Engaku-ji and Zeniarai Shrine), and Enoshima Island is on my bucket list :)

You're so wrong on the statement that "train tracks are were the slums are in most asian cities," like have you only been to the Philippines?
@yortravels19 күн бұрын
@@marquesgorham4226 I'm originally from Indonesia where this is common. I've seen the same phenomenon in Thailand, Vietnam and India. Usually there are slums by the train tracks because the land is owned by the government, providing an opportunity to settle in an open land :) the government usually just doesn't bother to evict because it's costly and unpopular.
@marquesgorham422619 күн бұрын
@yortravels but that's still not every city in asia, man. Asia is a big continent, in fact the biggest china, iran turkey kaskastan and many, many more are a part of it . Besides the countries you mentioned, like Veitnam, Thailand and even India, don't have that problem with every city it's insane to say that. I've seen rail roads in India that look completely fine

@@marquesgorham4226 well let's say when there are slums in Asia, they are usually by the train tracks (or the riverside). That's what I was trying to say. I appreciate the comment in any case :)

The strongest Bura gusts were recorded at 280 km/h, on Pag, I'm pretty sure. There are other parts on other islands and mainland in the vicinity that are equally barren but these tend to look like moonscape because they're predominantly flat like the moon, but Pag wastelands are distinctively hill/valley affair so it's indeed more like Mars than Moon, I'd say.
