Great shot (not elite, but well above average), decent puck retriever/forechecker, OK passer, above average IQ, skater and motor. But not elite. Cheats A LOT offensively at the expense of defense. He won't be allowed to do that in the NHL. Live in Kelowna and watched him a lot. I like Tij, but not sure if he'll be the offensive producer in the NHL that he was in junior. But will be an NHL player. My feeling is his ceiling is Brendan Gallagher in his prime, minus the sandpaper, net-crashing and pest-factor, and not as aggressive on the forecheck, but better shot and slightly better passer. I think if a team wants a guy who's max may be a 2nd line winger, but may only wind up as an elite 3rd liner, then Tij is your guy.

Hes definitely very talented, especially in the passing game and shows a ton of potential but whats gonna hold him back at the next level is his compete level. He needs to show more effort in my opinion.

Notes: Timing of dropoff pass was really bad and careless, that should have been an odd man rush the other way. Easily loses puck at 1:25 without a fight. So far...not impressed; many mistakes that he's getting away with only because it's junior hockey. Seems like a project. Would not draft in first half of first round. Definitely nice tool package; but he's definitely behind where Byfield was at the same time and we've seen how long it's taken for Byfield to make an impact in the NHL. A lot of the things he does well only work well in junior hockey where there is a ton of time and space and opportunities. Basically because of his tools he will just put up points by being a forward with ice time. With a toolsy guy if they have an attitude and high compete level than i would be more willing to take a chance they will progress quickly.

Celebrini is a solid 200ft player, can score , pass. He doesn't need to be overly flashy. The way Eiserman plays is way more concerning In my opinion. When he puts it all together, which may not take so long, this guy is going to be a very, very, VERY good player in the NHL. His skating, agility, puck control, IQ.. are all incredible. I saw you mention that you think Moore is the best prospect from this USNT class. Can you mention why? I personally love his game, but do you think his offensive production could match the other two in the NHL?
@thepuckenthusiast Жыл бұрын
When you say the other two, you are refering to Smith and Leonard (Or Perreault)? I think his game and Leonard's game will translate better in the NHL. I see Moore as a 2 way 2nd line Center. He has the speed, the right scanning habits, can create. Reads the space well. Smith I don't think will be a full time center in the NHL. I am now debating between Leonard and Moore.
@thepuckenthusiast Жыл бұрын
So if they all reach their full potential, he might might no be the best point producer but I think he'll bring more to the table overall. Interested to see how it goes.
@bret1575 Жыл бұрын
@@thepuckenthusiast don’t you think they all have 1st line potential? I am mainly referencing WS, RL, OM That makes sense though. I think Leonard is an incredibly complete player. He doesn’t have the same prowess in the defensive zone or in faceoffs or speed, but in my opinion everything else seems a bit better in Leonard vs Moore. And that’s not to say he’s slow or irresponsible. Far from it. He’s fast and agile. But yes only time will tell
@thepuckenthusiast Жыл бұрын
@@bret1575 Yeah I agree for Leonard. What I like about him is that he drives the middle. I tracked some shots and he rarely shoots from the outside. I don't think Leonard is your primary point producer but he makes his linemates better (The Smith/Perreault line is not the same without him) with the way he plays. I'm usually more on the safer side projecting. Looking at past drafts we tend to overate players. Smith could be a first line winger if everything goes really well , that's his ceiling IMO but not sure he'll get there. Second line is more realistic. Moore, floor is high and realistically I see a second line center on a competitive roster with maybe more. Leonard can play anywhere.
