The January 69 session very nearly didn’t take place, because of wrangling between the Elvis acolytes submitting songs to record, plus the rights to the songs and royalties, et al and Chips getting reallly annoyed and threatening to close down the whole project, half-way thru andkeeping the tapes in his possession. Thankfully, it didn’t happen!

I do agree with that comment on the sense that having already recorded Don’t cry Daddy, then to follow up with Poor Man’s Gold, he would have found it too similar, so the siren from the Fire Engine, would have been the perfect excuse?
