It would be interesting to see these results with traditional pockets.

This information is golden, so well put together and it just adds a piece to puzzle of stringing for me. Thank you!

Any chance you would be able to make a video on armour mesh?

You sir, have created the best videos on pocket structure and shooter placements available. Thank you so much for your time and effort in creating this. Well done!

As a stringer, this is fantastic evidence to what we probably already know. That said, the mechanics of the effect on the pocket is fascinating to me! Well done Sir!

The usual I've seen on pre strung heads is a nylon shooter up top and two to three place shooters below it. Can you try that?

Great vid! Something I never understood as a stringer is when poles want high pockets. Not a lot of protection, not a lot of channeling... Makes no sense!

Glad you liked it! My only goal was to help players get a better understanding of Lacrosse stringing to help their games. So hopefully helping 622 people… that’s pretty cool.👍

Thanks @redstarlacrosse. I’ve watched your channel for years! Your ‘how to make a lacrosse head stand’ is one of the funniest tutorials around!…. “It’s important to keep your workspace clean,” I lost it!🤣

this is so interesting, thanks for making this video. This is how ive always thought about different shooter setups. Obviously, the possibilities are endless, but id love to see more with the shooters moved up into different rows, nylons, and maybe even some U/V shooters from the old days. Wondering too how different stringing patterns affect this using your setup.

have been thinking about this as well, since I coach lacrosse and am also an engineer. The big question I have (I could be wrong) is about acceleration. It seems that with the spring, acceleration is maximum when first released which would require a lot of "whip" or would favor a head canted forward to keep the ball in the pocket. With an actual player, acceleration is maximized more towards the target (therefore less whip). Thoughts?

Thanks for your interest scottmccaig6185 . Yes, the Lacrossebot is very linear with it’s acceleration curve whereas a player typically produces a more gradual exponential curve when shooting. But the purpose of the bot is to repeat without variation so we can study (or exactly copy) the differences between one set up and another. Where the Lacrossebot is soo good, is if we are stringing a stick to be an exact replica of an existing set up. Once we get the release numbers from the original stick, we make whatever changes are required to replicate the same numbers on the new stick…. Even if it’s a different brand / design head. The player picks up the new stick and straight away likes how it shoots and passes. It’s an exact replica of their favourite stick!

Great content. Can you compare a lace shooter vs a nylon? I'm real curious on the difference from a scientific/physics perspective.

Very through, but would be nice to also see a video about how the pocket handles when being hit at different angles. I strung a lot of heads in high school playing FOGO defensive middie both sides middie and defender. I had goalies with high pockets and attackers with low pockets. Depending on how they moved. High pocket players tending to invert their sticks more often holding their head lower giving them better hold for low to high fakes, shots and a quicker release. The low pocket users being more opposite. Tending to have their head high and tight giving them more control when going through a barrage of stick checks. Good video, but I do believe there is more to it than what was stated. A players play style including when not passing or shotting can make a huge difference in what pocket choice would elevate their game the most.
