Nice review! I ended up ordering a custom set with the v90 (it was weird at first but I ended up snagging lots in the pocket) for blocker I ended up with the new shadow blocker since I didn’t like the weird cuff (that people seem to cut off) Lucky you guys have a good demo program there
@ChrisLeYEG8 ай бұрын
Nice! Great choices, and I think that my own catching mechanics don't suit the 90 degree break, though I keep demoing that style of catcher, haha. The Supreme blocker is well built so I'm sure you'll be pleased with it. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on your new gear!

Chris, I love GNetik Catchers. I have a 3 and 4 set which I love. Their first iteration was trash and they have made the gloves better and better. Glad to see my old GSBB buddy on the ice still.

Those two stretchable velcro straps on bottom are short. To put then together i need to stretc them alot, same actually with top one and one one top cover of those those calf muscle, If this is normal that they have to be so tight even after loosing them
@ChrisLeYEG8 ай бұрын
I wonder if they make it short to accommodate for stretching over the course of a season or two of use. I'm noticing the tightness of the recent gear that I've been demoing.

This set did not have a reinforced T. That's a custom option that really depends on how often you play.

My floot-to-knee measurement is about 19", so it's right in the middle of XS and S. I'm leaning towards XS if I go with Bauer.

How’s the pop off the blocker?
@ChrisLeYEG8 ай бұрын
To be honest, I don't recall much about the pop on this blocker. I do try to pay attention to it to see if there's any above average performance when I demo gear, and I didn't notice it with this blocker.

Did Bauer make a change? The Toe Bridge in this video doesn't match up with photos for the Hyperlite 2 I see online unless this is the custom option to use the Mach Toe bridge? That's my guess, is they modified the toe bridge to use the Mach's

The glove is something I need to try, this is a fantastic hybrid between the 580 and the 590. Which is why it's not 60 or 90-degree break but a 70. The only gloves I can use are when I can use all my fingers to close to my palm. My current Glove is a Simmions Ultralight which they stopped making and is probably close to this XP 70.
@ChrisLeYEG Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure how well I could compare Vaughn's description of its closure to other companies' break angles, though I'm glad that you can decipher what I'm trying to say! Haven't heard about Simmons in a while - hope you get a chance to try this Vaughn XP 70 degree break to provide a comparison!

is there a big difference between a stock 590 hyperlite 2 glove and a 580?
@ChrisLeYEG Жыл бұрын
Yes, I'd say they have different shapes and break angles that they feel unique compared to each other. Depends on how you currently play and how much you're willing to adjust yourself to your gear!

Glove closes really like a 600 and they call it a 581. I'm with my 590 still. Blocker has no difference.
@ChrisLeYEG Жыл бұрын
Ah, I think that shows how subtle these break angles can be. Will be interesting to see how many people switch to this 581 model. Hope you're enjoying the gear you have!
@deanpixx Жыл бұрын
The blocker is catching up to Bauer and is substantially more comfortable and lighter than the 5. The 581... I don't have words. I had to reject it when my set arrived and ordered a 600 custom instead. It's like a street hockey glove you'd find at Walmart.
@ChrisLeYEG Жыл бұрын
Ah, so you felt pretty strongly about the 581 that you didn't want to continue with it, eh? I like the innovations with it though I can see how the changes might turn some people off. Hope your 600 break works well for you!
@deanpixx Жыл бұрын
@@ChrisLeYEGI have the 600 in the 5 but was talked into trying the 581 based on nothing more than pictures. I’m all for trying the latest innovations. When it arrived at the well-known goalie store, I was standing there with their two top representatives and we were initially hesitant to verbalize what we all were thinking. After the cat was out of the bag, we tried finding words to describe this monstrosity of a glove. It’s just awful! I’m not liking the pads so far either honestly
