Good to hear common sense prevailing from Botswanas President. The Zimbabwe issue is exactly the same here in South Africa. Wealthy south Africans and companies would much prefer to employ Zimbabweans and Malawians over locals for the same reason that they are willing to work and they work hard for a good wage. they have skills that most South Africans dont have and they do well. This displeases the EFF and ANC who are made up of malnly South Africans who are unwilling to work or be creative and have destroyed the Infrastructure of the past that catered for development skills. The beaurocracy of employing local labour and costs are just not sustainable. Also they keep hampering on increasing a minimum wage for domestic works and trying to make our its the whites that expolit them. Believe me, this leads to unemployment. The wealthy simply say, then I don’t need you or cannot afford you. I grew up in Zimbabwe where the was a prominent saying, "half a loaf is better than nothing". So, South Africa must wake up to the reality that willing worker, willing pay structures works, and the wages will sort themselves out. You will never find a man earning R100 day when his neighbours employees pays R300. Society itself will dictate a fair and affordable wage, but when Gov tries to impose it, then people WILL be left with nothing, not even a half loaf, just look at Zimbabwe under ZANU PF, they are ther laughing stock of the world post colonisation because they have highst literary % in Africa and most parts of the world, but 80% unemployment. Well done Mr President, don’t make the same mistake previous Governments have. Aim at having everyone meaningfully employed by numbers so they can feed their families and grow their wealth base. WAKE UP SOUTH AFRICA.
