I used FlexSeal on the handle of one after I J.B. Welded the tang. I reprofiled the tip and honed the edge then put strike-anywhere tip matches inside the handle. Thing is bomb proof now and holds up to any chore required for building shelter, processing kindling, building a camp fire or signal fire, cutting & notching saplings, sharpening a spear point on a cut sapling for self defense against feral predators, cleaning fish, everything one could need a knife to survive for the usual 72 hours it takes search & rescue to locate a lost or injured hiker or camper. I'd trust my life with it since I've modified it and field tested it lots. Don't let knife snobs & outdoor hipsters convince you that you need a super expensive, hand forged, micarta handle, expensive steel, scandi grind, knife to survive 72hours or longer til Search & Rescue locates you. Your ancestors survived for decades in the wilderness using stone flaked knives. You'll die without water in 72 hrs before you'll die without an expensive knife. I went through survival school using a swiss army pocket knife. Not full tang, no locking blade and I performed all my tasks just fine. So my experiences conflict w/the KZbin knife salesmen being paid to push super expensive knives that our ancestors survived just fine without cause they had skills & wisdom. They didn't use knives as axes & pry bars.

you MUST use a discone on a metal pole as the pole makes up part of the antenna, the longer the better

Fantastic! I bought a low cost irontron drill press and could not get the rumble out of spindle kept lubing spindle through pulley and rear gear using a thick gun oil. Did everything you advised and the rumble is gone. This was disturbing for a new drill press and just use it for trimming brass.i really appreciate the information since I did not know how to live the spindle. So I did order a good dry lube that can also be used on reloading equipment but took a chance on gun oil for now . The thick blue gun oil did the job for now. Thanks for taking time to do this. DG 😊

Just an idea...most people click ked on this video to SEE how to do this. Not to listen to someone say what they did. This has zero value to most.

To clean the interior of the rods---through and through---get yourself a shotgun or rifle cleaning kit from Wal-Mart. Attach the roda in the kit and use a .357/38 wire brush. Bob's you're uncle...

If you use a low ratio with a JASO FD synthetic oil, this probably would not cause a smoky exhaust.

Reeming one side of a smaller drilled hole to match the square shank depth corners. And then Finnish with the larger clearance hole for the threads. Then just tap the bolt in lightly with a hammer. It's quicker this way.

I have one and every time I use it at work people laugh and point but I frame everything all day long and they are not laughing at the end of the day and boil with hate and jealousy as they carry their heavy ugly LOUD compressor to their truck and drive home to their wife they hate too

Another possible cause of the punch not "firing" is if the surface of the piece that the offset pin slides into is too roughly machined. A quick flattening on some 400 grit sandpaper and a drop of 3-in-1 oil has gotten a couple of punches better than new.

I own a few of these, small ones ,medium ones and large ones, good for overhead drilling, You just get a piece of Conduit and turn the drill Press upside down and you can drill into the ceiling or into overhead steel beams👍

The 3386 Bolt Cutters have doubled in price since this video was made. That being said...they still seem to be a decent light weight cutter especially for wire cutting purposes? I am embarking on project work that will require numerous cuts of 16 Gauge fence wire and am seriously considering purchasing these. Thanks for taking the time to make a real life, informative video demonstrating what these bolt cutters can and cannot be expected to achieve.

Funny, I just bought the same box yesterday but in red. I just spent the past hour cleaning the box and cutting up semi truck mud flaps for inserts to protect the box. I don’t have a wood shop anymore, so all my carpenters tools will go in this box. 👍
