A question!! So the chest rig doesent come with the special arnes, its an upgrade apart that you have tu buy separately. And finally can you provide the site where I can find this chest rig
@military_misfitКүн бұрын
Yes, it comes with X & H straps but the one in the video is an upgrade. You can get them from platatac.com/catalogue/chest-rigs-and-carriers.html or www.optactical.com/product-category/chest-rig/platatac-chest-rigs/

Would it be overkill to wear the vest over a set of belt kit?
@military_misfitКүн бұрын
You can do it but I would revaluate the kit I was carrying first. It would be better to put some of it in a pack. However sometimes you have to carry what you have to carry ;) kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqSWg5p4aNpjp80si=SO0Mav1K6818-IeU&t=104

This one is a modern reproduction done by North Equipment. The only thing I would change is make the rear pouch attach via PALS so its removable and to put PALS on the rear side of the water bottle pouches. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aWKcfWWug5dqbJosi=lLWAq9PN-IHzZBu6&t=300

I considered getting one of the molle osprey versions for a desert/arid/fall/winter loadout. Then adding molle mod belt loops on the bottom row of molle to attach a bison replica gunbelt 2 inch belt. Think this is a good idea or should i just stick with my o.d green mil-tec modular system vest i already have? I also considered a american coyote brown or 3 colour desert FLC for a smaller minimalist assault vest carrier style load out instead also being arid, desert, fall, winter oriented in north america colour wise. Less focus on greens since my other vest is already. I could eventually setup as many assault vests I could afford responsibly in different setups plus even a Dutch modular vest as well if I wanted to basically have multiple load outs. But depends on the purpose of that if I can justify it.
@military_misfit4 ай бұрын
I am not a fan of the MOLLE version. Its way to big and bulky. The FLC can work well when properly set up. Of those two options I would pick the FLC.
@Callsign_Ewok4 ай бұрын
@@military_misfit thank you, this is very valuable insight in my future considerations for a 2nd build. For a more arid colour like coyote brown or DCU (probably not DCU as most of the camo would be covered up by pouches, coyotes brown being more practical probably in this instance, not a black zipper but brown instead too, little details that can give your position away, DCU 3 colour one is also too bright in my opinion so perhaps a coyote brown FLC is the way to go for my 2nd assault vest/LBV like setup). I could also take a Dutch modular vest as well, since those aren't nearly as bulky or impractical as a osprey from my understanding. I spotted a black Polish special forces assault vest I was really curious about too. It was on at a great price. I found very cheap FLC's in perfect condition too however.

Spray paint is your friend ;)
@Callsign_Ewok4 ай бұрын
@@military_misfit I did legitimately consider spray painting or dyeing the black Polish Special Forces assault vest I spotted online, but with such a artifact I would be worried about making the material stiff and weird... not sure how mesh reacts to spray paint and dye. But it's definitely a good idea as I could turn that black vest into that arid tan/coyote I am looking for plus even some greens, other browns maybe streaked in.

Treillis toutes armes (TTA) or "All Arms Uniform". I own one myself and although it isn't the most comfortable vest I own, it is practical. Heavily used in The Congo and Ivory Coast Ops in 2003 and Early on in Afghanistan. You tend to see a lot of user preference on those OPs with French troops adding private purchase pouches, also you tend to see the French Med pouch and FAMAS cleaning kit pouch added, usually attached to those small straps at the top. You tend to see guys using one of the back pouches only for some reason. As to the Arktis battle vests, yes but it would be more correct to say Arktis "style" battle vests as they bought in from several different companies, Mil Tec, OPEX and Sans Marque as well as Arktis, all of which are similar but have subtle differences. The French army are not adverse to buying off the shelf when they need too and of course some are private purchase.
@military_misfit5 ай бұрын
Thanks for posting, that's great info. The fact is these vests were used for a long time, even if the design is a bit "unique", so they must have worked at some level. Thats interesting about Arktis. I know they supply a lot of kit to the French military, but I didn't realise some units were using knock offs, lol.

Followed your link on Reddit!! Thanks for a quality review. Halicon-Tex is not well-known in the US so my team is skeptical. They're like "It's not just european Condor, is it?" We are a volunteer Search and Rescue team that also enjoys shooting sports so we do demand rugged quality and smart design from our gear. Most of us use Mayflower, but Mayflower is too pricey now that groceries have doubled in price here in the US :( Based on this review I think I will get this. It appears to check all my boxes. The harness has routing channels for antennae and water tube. the side panels can hold my TQ, epipen, and my radio pouch. I like the option to use a dangler instead of my belt for my trauma kit. I appreciate the spacious looking admin pouch behind the mag pouches and I hope it has more room than my Mayflower. It sounds like the quality is there, especially on the pouches, because users outside the US all seem to agree on that. It even comes in Multicam!
@military_misfit6 ай бұрын
Cheers mate, Helikon is great kit especially for the money. Im pretty sure the admin pocket will be slightly smaller than the mayflower, it cant take a triple mag insert like my mayflower does.
