That has got to be the best TV show theme ever written. Holy cow. At least in the top 2-3. I guess The Rockford Files was awfully good too, and the images that had along with it were better than these by a mile.

I always believed that if it's not broke, don't fix it. This version of the theme song is the worst for the original series, imo. There are 2 or 3 other versions for this series.

According to both Wikipedia & iMDB, this is episode 12 of season 12. Checked it because Gary Lockwood is shown. He played: 1. LCDR Gary Mitchell in "Where No Man Has Gone Before," the 2nd pilot & 3rd episode shown of Star Trek & 2. Dr Frank Poole, the 1st of the 4 astronauts killed by HAL 9000 in 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Season 11 was the most wacked out of the series. Psychics, lunatics, a Jim Jones episode, this Nazi one,and Paul Williams as a blackmailer. This was the final season with the regular cast as season 12 had a partial new cast.

1980 - They gave the theme a slight makeover with a disco beat. They did that with a lot of tv shows and movies around that time.

After 12 seasons and reaching two decades, the intro by 1980 already shows shots that, despite its iconic and legendary essence, demonstrate that it's a time capsule from the late 60's and early 70's. The theme tune for this season also shows slight alterations in order to sound more 'funky' despite the disco genre already phasing out, always thought this season's theme rendition was more like a swan song to the show, much more after I read rumours that Jack Lord himself thought the 11th season was the last one he would make, but then had to make this season on the demands of CBS executives only to give closure regarding Wo Fat.
