The creator of Yu Yu Hakusho also made Hunter x Hunter. Togashi may not have been as open to the gay in the past, but of many mangaka he has a track record of exploring such topics often in his art. Its not out of the question that had this anime been made in the 2020's they could have been a couple. I will hold onto this possibility until I die and no one can stop me.

I love that, through out the entire show, Hiei just kinda comes off autistic, not in a bad way, but in a rather realistic way (1:30 being the best example, he's 100% dead pan actually freaking out a little that Kurama of all people managed to get wounded), especially once he actually starts to care about Yusuke

I heard somewhere the original plan was to have Hiei and Kurama actually be in a relationship. Japan in the early 90's though, in a series aimed at young boys, I am very skeptical about that.

It’s believable. The creator managed to have an openly gay villain and a trans villain (pre 4kidz censoring) in this series and has better representation in hxh. He’s also married to the creator of Sailor moon which was very gay. I’m not saying he had any chance for it to be greenlit but I can see him planning on it.

It's a joke, get over yourself. And it's not like Togashi is against this sort of thing either - his rejected manga The Trouble Quartet was a sports concept with crossdressing and gay characters. This was an author's note in the very first Yu Yu Hakusho volume.

Kurama is not gay. They are not gay. Kurama had a girlfriend Maya it was in the comic!! A true fan would know. He had to let go of Maya once he realized he would expose her to danger because of his existence so he has to let her go to protect her. It was in the comic. This lgtbt delulu thing is insulting for the heavy fans of Yu Yu Hakusho.

The uniqueness and perfection of every distinct character was enough. If you feel the need to add something and distort a story that is your business. But I do not support when someone is misinforming about the characters and the storyline of a great show.

It's supposed to give you a laugh. If you couldn't handle the tiniest implication of gayness for a joke, I'm suprised you made it to the end of the series. Wasn't Kurama mistaken for a girl and Kuwabara's girlfriend by some of his college friends? And it's not nonsense, mate. If you're a manga collector open that first volume up. Maybe it's on pirated copies I don't know. That author's note is, quite literally, real. This is straight from Togashi's mouth. While I don't think there's any canonical gayness in YYH (besides the trans demon girl and maybe Itsuki and Sensui at a push) Togashi definitely isn't against the idea. So, while this video was one great big joke, why on earth are you so annoyed about it? You're reading very anti-SJW, complaining about something that isn't really a big problem to begin with.
