Loved this video and your honesty in coming to that decision. I’ve already watched your Primitivo video and knowing how much you enjoyed that makes your decision to stop all the more satisfying I’m guessing.

At the time it was a very tough decision, but in hindsight it was the right call. If we’d have carried on with our itinerary I’d have arrived in Oviedo broken, then had to get up the very next day for a 20/30 km day. Making that decision also enabled us to have a slower start to the Primitivo and time to stay at the monastery. Thanks for watching

Great video, thanks! I’ve been following Nick for a while and saw his Primitivo video so came across here to get your take on this route. Planning to do the Primitivo in June 2025 immediately after the Inglese. These will be my 4th and 5th Camino’s. Grateful for the itinerary in the description and insight into the Albergues you stayed at. There’s nothing like a fellow pilgrims recommendation for a good place to stay! Buen Camino! @@grahamwallace thanks ☺️. The ingles followed by the Primitivo sounds like such a great trip. Out of interest, how come you’re doing it that way round? We started the Primitivo a bit slower to help us ease into the route and prepare for the big climbs, I’d recommend those donativos for an amazing albergue experience. Happy to chat if you have anymore questions. Buen Camino

@ I’m doing the Inglese with a friend and it’s her first Camino so doing that towards the end of May in the hope that the Galician weather isn’t too wet. Figure that week will get my Camino legs going again before I tackle the Primitivo on my own at the start of June. Getting to Ferrol from Edinburgh will be our first challenge though! I’ve actually been toying with the idea of starting in León and doing the San Salvador first, then the Primitivo but not sure yet. I’ve also been thinking about the Via de La Plata instead of the Salvador/Primitivo. Time and finances will be the deciding factor but I’ve always fancied the distance involved from Seville. Have done the Portuguese from Lisbon, the Frances and the Portuguese coastal so looking for a good challenge this year. 😀 🤷🏻‍♂️

That makes total sense and the ingles is such a good camino to start with - a more complete option that Sarria to Santiago. Are you able to fly to Santiago from Edinburgh? If not, I was pretty darn impressed with the trains from Madrid. If you’re after a challenge then the San Salvador will give you that, some big days and stunning views. We tried to do that before the Primitivo…in 4 days. It kicked our asses. It’s the ‘I Had to Quit’ video on my channel. I’ve not walked the via La plata yet, I’ve heard it’s a quiet route in terms of fellow pilgrims, a far cry from the Primitivo. I’d be interested to know which one you go for in the end. I only have limited holiday so it’s always a struggle to work out which ones to do, ignoring the fact that there is always a whole other raft of holidays around the globe to be had too.

@ thanks, I’ll check out your Salvador vid. No direct flight to Santiago from Edinburgh. I usually connect via Stansted. Agreed, trains from Chamartin are a good option. Yes, maybe Primitivo 2025 and Plata 2026. Decisions, decisions! All the best!

1. Temporary Repairs Speed tape is used for temporary fixes on airplanes because it allows maintenance crews to address minor issues quickly without grounding the aircraft. This ensures that flights remain on schedule while awaiting a more permanent repair. 2. Durability Speed tape is made of aluminum with a strong adhesive backing, making it highly resistant to harsh environmental conditions. This durability ensures that the tape remains effective during high-speed flights and under extreme temperature changes. 3. Heat Resistance Airplanes encounter extreme temperatures, from the heat during takeoff to the cold at high altitudes. Speed tape is designed to withstand these fluctuations, ensuring it stays intact even in temperatures as low as -65°F (-54°C) or as high as 600°F (315°C). 4. High Adhesion The adhesive properties of speed tape allow it to stick firmly to the aircraft’s surface, even in high-speed airflow. This ensures the tape remains secure during flight and doesn’t peel off under intense conditions. 5. Quick Turnaround Time Airlines operate on tight schedules, and delays can be costly. Speed tape provides a rapid solution for minor issues, enabling planes to return to service quickly without extended downtime for repairs. 6. Non-Structural Repairs Speed tape is primarily used for non-structural repairs, such as covering small surface cracks, securing loose components, or patching minor cosmetic damage. These applications help maintain the plane’s integrity until more extensive repairs can be performed. 7. Cosmetic Maintenance Sometimes, the damage to an aircraft is purely cosmetic, such as paint chipping or minor scuffs. Speed tape can be used to cover these areas temporarily, preserving the plane’s appearance and aerodynamic profile. 8. Preventing Further Damage Applying speed tape can prevent minor issues from worsening. For example, covering a loose panel or crack can stop it from expanding due to wind pressure during flight, reducing the risk of more significant repairs. 9. Cost Efficiency Using speed tape is a cost-effective solution for addressing minor issues. It saves airlines money by allowing planes to continue operating while awaiting comprehensive repairs, rather than grounding them unnecessarily. 10. Compliance with Regulations Speed tape is approved by aviation authorities for specific uses under strict guidelines. Maintenance crews use it in compliance with these regulations, ensuring safety is not compromised while addressing minor issues. 11. Testing and Certification Speed tape undergoes rigorous testing to meet aviation standards. Its ability to withstand high speeds, pressure, and temperature changes ensures that it is a reliable tool for temporary fixes in aviation. 12. Lightweight Solution Speed tape is lightweight, making it an ideal choice for temporary fixes without adding significant weight to the aircraft. This ensures that the plane’s performance and fuel efficiency are not adversely affected. 13. Weather Resistance The tape is designed to resist rain, snow, UV rays, and other environmental factors. This ensures it remains effective in various weather conditions, whether on the ground or in flight. 14. Seamless Application Speed tape can be applied easily and quickly, even in tight spaces or awkward positions on the aircraft. This practicality makes it a go-to solution for maintenance crews working under time constraints. 15. Enhancing Safety While it is not used for critical structural repairs, speed tape can enhance safety by preventing small issues from escalating. For example, covering a loose component reduces the risk of it detaching during flight. 16. Versatility Speed tape is versatile and can be used on various surfaces, including metal, composite materials, and painted areas. This adaptability makes it suitable for multiple types of aircraft and repair scenarios. 17. Temporary Sealing In some cases, speed tape is used to temporarily seal gaps or holes to maintain cabin pressurization or protect components from exposure to the elements. This ensures the aircraft remains operational until permanent repairs are made. 18. Industry Standard Speed tape has become an industry-standard tool for minor repairs due to its reliability and effectiveness. Maintenance crews worldwide use it as part of their standard procedures for addressing small issues. 19. Long-Term Testing Although speed tape is meant for temporary fixes, its durability means it can remain effective for extended periods if necessary. However, regulations require that permanent repairs are made as soon as possible to ensure long-term safety. 20. Efficiency in Operations In the fast-paced aviation industry, efficiency is critical. Speed tape allows airlines to keep their operations running smoothly, minimizing delays and disruptions while maintaining safety and compliance with regulatory standards.

I gave a two part intro to Camino for a local hiking shop late summer / fall here in Arizona where i live. The aim was simply to introduce the Camino to some new people and I think we did that. We had between 125 - 150 at each talk which was crazy as I wasn’t sure anyone would even show up…. I’m planning to do Baztan in April ‘25, take a short break and then Primitivo in Mid May ‘25. I’ve done Frances twice, but one was just a 10 day in ‘19 (the first bite of the apple) and then I did a full Frances in April ‘23. I had such an amazing Camino family on both but also tremendous personal growth and learnings. I always look forward to getting back on trail!

The first day is up over the Pyrenees - Staying on the Frances you could walk from Astorga to Sarria, which will give you a big climb up to O Cebreiro and back down again www.gronze.com/etapa/astorga/foncebadon Do let me know what you decide or if you need anymore advice.

When walking the quieter routes I find I get used to lack of people, when you hit a big town or city it comes as such a shock. Sometimes a smaller camino family can be even more special than being part of a big group, you become such a tight little unit.

Where did you start your camino?

I started in Leon and walked all the way to Santiago de Compostela, which was my first Camino.

@@Caminohacks Thanks, I'll consider Leon, France as a starting option. I know there are many options, but wanted to know what you chose.

How long do you have for your walk? From Leon to Santiago is about 10 days or so. I’d recommend it over just doing Sarria to Santiago, as you get a less busy section to ease into before the last 100kms. If you only have a week I have a video on the 4 most popular routes - kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYO4c3p8Z7StrNUsi=SJ-4mIDIjljfwGQU Any questions then give me a shout 👍

@@Caminohacks Thanks, I see starting at Leon takes 70 hrs vs the 25 hrs from Sarria. I'll take a look at your other video.

Thats speed tape its a advanced tape thats super strong that people use to make a quick repair in case a crack or in perfection until a permanent repair can be done that tape also helps for smoother surfaces for air to flow around the plane ✈️ I hope this helped you out😊

Your plan sounds much more sensible. We rather foolishly decided to try and squeeze it in with the limited time we had. It’s a beautiful route and with more days it will be much more enjoyable - the perfect way to warm up for the Primitivo. I hope you have a wonderful trip. Buen Camino

How much extra walking do you do to place and then recover the cameras for your walk by shots?
@Caminohacks
@Caminohacks Ай бұрын
Probably only about 10/15 meters max. If im honest there were a few shots I wished i’d walked much further when it came to the edit as it makes for a cleaner cut when you exit the shot.

Absolutely beautiful. Thank you Dan. I was in the process of deciding between the Primitivo and the Invierno for next May, and your video has definitely given the edge to the Primitivo. Will you be making individual videos for each stage?

Thank you so much, I’m so glad you enjoyed the video - it was a labour of love. So pleased it’s helped you decide on this wonderful route, you won’t be disappointed ☺️ I prefer to make full video of routes now, it’s a bigger commitment of time but I think it’s worth the pay off. Happy to answer any questions you might have of the route.

Thank you very much for your kind reply.I am hoping that I will attempt a second Camino in 2025 but haven’t decided as yet on the route.I would like to finish in Santiago but the Frances does not particularly appeal because of both the distance and potentially number of other people.walking and have looked so far at the Camino Ingles.I really enjoyed walking alone which surprised me a bit as I enjoy company of others but not having to compromise and consider anyone else apart from myself worked well.I have subscribed to your channel and will work my way through your videos for inspiration definitely including the Primitivo.Best wishes Stuart

Thanks for subscribing! Hmm, well if you want to finish in Santiago and enjoy a more solitary Camino route then why not look into the Camino de Invierno - it starts in Ponferrada and finishes in Santiago. It’s supposed to be beautiful and is still fairly quiet. All the best.

It was my first Camino and don’t think I could have chosen better.I completed it in six stages and saw absolutely no one else walking my way from Bayonne to Pamplona,two other pilgrims passed me doing the route in reverse near the pass at Belate.I don’t mind admitting,I found it tough at times particularly the climb up to Otsondo but so rewarding and satisfying,loved the scenery,tranquility and time to think which meant the mind travelled far further than just the distance from start to finish.Enjoyed your videos very much

What a lovely Camino to have as your first, it sounds like you got so much from it too ☺️ Are you planning on walking a different camino route next year? Thank you for the kind comments about my baztan videos, I enjoyed making them and the relaxed tempo of the route gave me time to shoot more scenery and moments. Even typing this is bringing back find baztan memories 😄 If you’ve got two weeks to spare I’d recommend checking out the Primitivo

It must have been a different experience walking it in the summer, did you see many others walking this delightful route? It had some cheeky elevation doesn’t it! 😄 I really enjoyed this route and I think with a little more infrastructure it could become a popular short Camino route. Buen Camino, Stuart

Hi Mate, hopefully my 'knee' get back into shape for 2025 Camino Primitivo, by the way how do one can get to 'Òviedo' from Madrid (I know you were on Camino El Salvador and you finally managed to reach Santiago) Thanks for your useful Hacks and Tips it sure do make life easer x take care

I hope it does, you've got time! It's pretty easy to get to Oviedo from Madrid. The quickest way is to catch a taxi from the airport to Madrid Chamartín train station and they have fast trains going from there. You can book via Rome2Rio website - it's the same train that dropped us off in Leon for the San Salvador. Always happy to help out fellow pilgrims, thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Buen Camino

That was a really enjoyable watch. It felt really genuine and heartfelt about the pleasures of doing a Camino without being preachy, which some videos are. I'm curious, was that rain and cloud early on typical for that time of year?

Hi Tom, thank for you saying that, it's such a lovely thing for you to say. I wanted to try and get across my love of the Camino and the wonderful nature of being part of a Camino family, so I'm pleased to hear my film resonated with you. Weather wise in June, you might get hit with a rainy day or two, but the good thing was that it wasn't very cold so you can have a poncho and shorts on and you'll be fine. Happy to help with anymore questions you might have, just shout.
