it is a Layer Mode (layers have a default mode of "normal" but theres like a thousand layer modes with different effects) Multiply... is hard to explain but basically it "darkens whats underneath"

I've tried and failed many a times with shading. In fact I was obsessed. Gotta hit em with a fast rule of, don't shade with a percentage opacity brush. Yeah it looks cool it really does i know... but the end piece looks so muddy. Keep that for the concept/sketch stage P.s. that soft brush shading on your truck looked so quaint. it was adorable.

for me, colour theory has always been a complex topic that only the "masters" can truly understand, but bro turns it out its easy as SHIT i love how more and more people are pushing the ideal of practice and actually drawing/painting and trying stuff being so much more important than studying colour theory cause.....come on how can you get better at volleyball without even holding it in your hands and actually playing?? great video silly black and white guy

thank u v-ery much! 😤❤ indeed, despite the two being linked, theres a huge gap between understanding something in theory and in practice i agree

new game: drink everytime victor says f*ck / sh!t 🥃 appreciated the realistic advices at the end, it’s so easy to compare your noob work to that of an expert and feel shitty about it but i think most of us beginners tend to forget that everyone was, at one point, quite shitty too. i feel like thousands of people give up way too easily because of that or just very low self esteem

This is something i have been suffering from cause I decided to learn other ,more traditional mediums of painting and drawing and after learning and spending 3-4 years in the digital medium oh boy, it's giving me some time to reflect, However this video gave me a great idea to start doing this digitally first to understand the values and tints better, it will be very helpful, thank you
@vikartstuf3 күн бұрын
traditional and digital both have their pros and cons... apart from the medium most knowledge overlaps imo so no matter how you learn, it will transfer somehow 🌟 keep it up! >:3

thats a super good suggestion, thank u :) ill see what i can do!! theres a lot of topics id like to cover and making vids takes time, but im not planning on not stopping anytime soon so sooner or later ill cover that as well✨ Overall, i just meant -> getting it wrong and going "oh wait why" - "oh i see, the colors surrounding it were cold so it looked like a warmer color than it actually is" same for saturation, value etc.

About a year ago I managed to actually keep up with doing a tiny color/light study every day. Working without eyedropping is so important, but I would usually just eyedrop the dominant background color first, get that plain block of color down and then do the whole painting rather than checking each one. Worked pretty well! I learned a ton even though I only kept it up for like two weeks and I still feel like I can see those short two weeks in my digital paintings when I (rarely) attempt them these days!

Im coming out of this depressive slump i call the "wastelands" where i created "art monsters" by hitting a roadblock, not overcoming it, making the problem bigger in my head and letting the idea fester and haunt me daily without doing anything about it. My tip to beginners. If you create an art boss/monster forget about that idea and return to what made you love art. Even if it means you have to draw badly, even if it means you have to abandon lessons and you learn nothing throughout the entire time. You were never going to learn anyways because you fell into a creative abyss of self loathing and perfectionism. This doesn't just apply to art. Abandon your video games, books, albums You can always always come back to them once you grow your passion back. For now just let your inner child play and experience whimsy without judgment. (Is this what it feels like to turn 23. Things start to make sense? 4 days... 23. Rhats a fucking number.) Okay. Byee :D

An addon Here's my new schedule I have to make something It doesn't matter what. It has to be focused on one particular subject until I feel I have gained my fire back. Once I feel that I can move to another subject like music I just finished a wii game that has amazing art direction but Terrible story, and I felt it went underappreciated and I want to express the parts I love for it. I go through a part of the level, stop at a subject and move the camera around until I find an interesting composition. Then I draw it. I do that every day. Sometimes I will not find Enough time in the day to dedicate for that so I will find a game play of that game and just pause the video. As time goes on I will maybe softly incorporate some lessons and tutorials. However that doesn't feel right at the moment. I'm also planning on doing the combo draw 100 things Zack Feldman/ struthless "challenge" I love the way Zack does it where he doesn't limit himself to one a day and this allows himself to immediately improve on a design with the next iteration. It also feels less daunting. Final and I feel most important part. I'm doing this all in pencil and paper. I got too weird with my drawing tablet/laptop combo. I used to use my iPad and take it everywhere but it got too slow. Then I upgraded to a (imo) expensive laptop that I don't like to move from my desk in case it breaks. I'm just now realizing this really made art feel like a "special" thing instead of a thing I would do daily. Also the tactile feeling of a tablet, the limitless feeling, and the slight lag is off-putting. With pencil and paper I can take it anywhere and draw absolutely anytime for a quick little swig of fun.

Wait forgot a very important part And I noticed how much it took hold of me subconsciously. I used to post my art online to show progress. And I think maybe that would have been ok but that fed into my perfectionism. A few days ago I felt myself wanting to change something so it was nicer to look at. This wasn't ever what I was even wanting to do with my progress pics. I love the ugly side of art, I celebrate it and yet there is this nagging feeling to present my work prettier... to the detriment of the piece. As I'm typing this im coming to a hypothesis that my obsession for shading was at least partially because of this. I'm not anti social media now.. I will still be showing the world my art. But I think maybe collecting it over some time, letting it stew, letting it age and then posting it will be a much healthier way of going about it. At that point, it wouldn't be the present me so any flaws that are showing would hurt much less.
