Greatly enjoyed this lesson! Your trainer is wonderful. Love her use of "frying pan hands" (the more technical term would be "Fillis hold"). It's a lovely tool that is very much underutilized. And you could clearly see the difference it made for Bella! Also love how much time Lucy spends really explaining things to you, both the "how" and the "why", and how much she works with you in the walk (or even the halt). Really nice and thorough, down to explaining theory which is also overlooked a lot by riding instructors, even though it's super important. Keep going, and please keep sharing these wonderful lessons with us! Edit: Oh, and about the term "Losgelassenheit": I'm German, and Lucy's pronunciation is actually pretty good! The term is a bit tricky to translate, because in the context of the dressage training scale it really has two meanings (like Lucy explained as well). The word itself comes from the verb "loslassen" which literally translates to "letting go", in this context, letting go of (physical and mental) tension. There's the physical compontent, which refers to the absence of (negative) tension in the horse's body. I'd agree with Lucy that the term "looseness" is a more fitting translation in this context. However, there's also the mental component to "Losgelassenheit", which refers to the horse being in a mentally relaxed and emotionally neutral or positive state. So "relaxation" is also a fitting translation. "Losgelassenheit" really means both, and it's important to keep both these elements (physical and mental) in mind. People tend to forget the importance of that mental relaxation, even though it is a prerequisite for the horse being able to learn.

Hi, Maria. I've just discovered your channel and I have to say I really enjoy watching your training sessions and seeing you achieve your goals step by step. You have an amazing trainer - from what I've seen so far - and that's great when you get to learn from that one person who really makes you feel comfortable and confident. I'm actually more into jumping though I can't but acknowledge that I LOVE dressage. I'm going to the UK this week and I have already started to miss training and riding. Keep up the good work. You're doing great. Best wishes and hope to see more of you soon! P.S: Hands down you have a new sub here! Greetings from Spain for you and your awesome trainer.

You have a wonderful trainer there. I love how she constantly asks you questions about what you're feeling and what you're doing, and her use of mental images like the wheelbarrow. I also like how she did not try to get your horse's head down but rather worked on your seat and your aids. Keep going like this and you'll improve in no time.

How funny, I was thinking this very thing as I was lounging, I will ask Lucy next time 😊
@kmiklaszewski7 ай бұрын
That is funny. I’m a big believer All instructors should have a certain level of knowledge and even a Certification to a certain level of training for teaching or for instructors with rider biomechanics. There are just too many instructors out there everywhere in the world that are teaching beginners in lower level riders, and just collecting their money and not actually teaching the students the right things or good enough information. There are so many things I was never taught as a beginner when I started riding as a teenager. I realize now as an adult and having done my own research and educating myself through, wondering how what when where and why of all things riding. Plus, there are just so many horses suffering and being made to look like they’re a jerk or disobedient and even being put in of discomfort and physical or mental pain because the rider is just doing things that are incorrect with their body. Anyway, good for you for not just going with any old instructor. You can tell that you really care about getting yourself correct so that you can be the best partner for your horse. I’m interested in seeing what kind of exercises your instructor would use for different position issues or helping you with more correct aids. These are the type of lessons. I want to teach myself when I start taking on students. We don’t have anyone that specializes in bio mechanics in my area of the United States and I have been wanting to be certified with ride with your mind. Looking forward to more of your lessons Especially a lunge lesson.
