You “hit the nail on the head” with this video! Your reasons for veganism are commendable and so smart! I am starting out with vegan meals and working my way up from there. This video was very encouraging! I’ve recently found locally made vegan tamales at my local farmers market. They are sooo good and I love being able to find vegan options I really like. It makes my eco-kindness journey easier. Thanks again for the great videos! I’m so glad I found your channel!!

Hi there! Great video! Question for you: What are some sustainable brands you like to purchase from when you aren’t buying things secondhand? What companies are fair to their workers? Thanks!!

No way… I was looking for tips on patching a pair of black trousers that I wear to Cube of Truth demos, found your video and recognise you from Cubes some years ago, haha! What an amazing coincidence. Thanks for the tutorial. I am determined to get the most life out of my clothes and will be using this tip. Hope to see you again at future Cubes!

Hey! Just found your channel and I loved this video. One of my favorite vegan restaurants in Mexico City had to be Los Loosers. It was heavily mushroom based. Now im hungry! Lmao 🤣

Helena, I really loved your video. It's a shame the amount of waste that is produced. I have a vintage sleeping bag that has so much character that I'm gonna patch it up with your methods! I might even become one of those guys with patch covered jeans. Salud

@emaniclark9007 yes they were all english friendly! At Malportaco some of the servers were a little less fluent, but they always had a server who was fluent in english - so we didnt' have any issues!

if we deny buying clothes from bad factories, doenst it make it worse a work for workers there (prob if brand starts making less money it will affect people salary. and in the end we help to make job for those people even worst in case they gonna be paid less and work more (cuz brand no ethical and ppl stopped buying there gatments)
@Dohlenblick
@Dohlenblick Жыл бұрын
Good on you to consider the workers👍. Now the local subsidiaries of most big labels in Asia and the Middle East pay their workers as little as they can get away with already, it is actually why many of them choose these locations. And you're right, the workers generally have nowhere else to go, or they would not work knowing, for example, that any fire would most likely burn them alive (as happens on occasion due to lax building codes/supervision). But this means that we have to force the big labels on top to commit to and uphold some standards, which can be done by deciding against buying their stuff for humanitarian and environmental reasons/investing in better fashion etc. Not all prices are on the price-tag.

From what I've learned, yes sometimes garment workers really only have this as their only job opportunity and they have to take it to support their family. However I think as consumers, we have to put the pressure on brands. People at the top of these companies are benefiting / making all the money, while the workers are still suffering or barely making minimum wage.

Yes I heard about this recently too! I think there was controversy that Thinx perhaps was using some materials showed they actually contained PFAS which could be linked to health side effects. I think it ended with Thinx giving some reimbursement to customers + stating they will enforce stronger regulations around ensuring PFAS wont be used.. personally I still use mine because they're still in good condition but might look into the reimbursement if it's still available

I think it goes back to how the current fashion system is set up with a capitalist mindset, where you're always trying to out-do your competitors. I wonder what the fashion world would look like if it was more of an open source approach, where people can share their most sustainable manufacturers and solutions with each other. I think slowing down and sharing solutions is the alternative approach to the fashion system!
