interesting. I didn't know (and wouldn't have guessed) that you also feel afraid while working on your pieces. Glad that you're being aware of it and trying to let it go. Here's to having fun and expressing ourselves honestly!

Just draw is the old advice that still works for anyone who has ever taken up drawing. If you want to learn how to draw it will work 100%. As for getting better it also works 100% because no matter how or what you learn if you want to draw you have to put it into practice.

Very well spoken on this I appreciate the insight here a lot! It is true, truly simple, that the key really is to try, to make the attempt, initialize a reality stemming from the mind. Sometimes perfectionism gets in the way, but the excitement of exploration, of realizing the fictional is a large push to dismantle it. Great artwork and presentation for the video!! You are definitely one of the most qualified to make a video on this topic.

@@gavin347 Thanks a lot Gavin! I would just focus on keeping your grades up and spend as much time as you can making art! Drawing a lot is a great way to learn where you wanna go. The industry is pretty competitive but it's all about how much you wanna do it (also who you know and luck) just focus on practice and learning for now and make as many projects as you can ! Schooling-wise, the internet has all the resources you need to learn how to make art. Use it, good luck!

Exactly this, just keep making stuff, have fun with it, put in some homework such as learning fundamentals such as light, shape, form etc. The industry is shitting itself atm and regardless of your perceived worth in that industry your self expression is most important. In concept work for the most part you are just a tool for someone else. Its creative work but personal freedom is different, and art becomes work. Bear this this in mind, but keep going! Art is fantastic regardless of where it goes.

I do single layer with no special blending modes, often with only one brush. Feels like every time i need to add a layer, or switch brushes, thats one more thing to think about that takes me out of flow. Any recs to get past this?
@ArtBudsTube6 күн бұрын
@@speakersr-lyefaudio6830 use it to your advantage! Im actually going back to simpler methods on drawing, even digitally. I use one brush and one eraser on one layer. I use black on a white canvas which really simplifies things. My recommendation is focus on the things that a simple method allows you to, like proportion, composition, value, and most importantly storytelling/intention. Wish you luck on your journey!

It’s interesting how you talk about the difference between using Photoshop or any digital art making platform and generative AI. It’s the biggest ‘straw man’ argument the AI bros use to attempt to legitimate their output as art, hey man it’s just a tool, like Photoshop, which is utter bollocks if you ask me, and shows how little these people know about making actual art! Sure Photoshop automates SOME aspects of making art, you don’t have to mix your own pigments and can undo and re-do your marks, lasso shapes and distort them to try and iterate compositions, but ALL of this is still MAKING. If typing a prompt into an engine that’s MAKES the imagery for you is actually art why don’t these ‘prompt’ artists simply write haiku poetry or something? There’s just no comparing the amount of human imagination that goes into PAINTING your own work, with an agent that does all that for you based on some textual prompts! Quite aside from the ethical issues with how the data these agents train on is obtained it is absolutely clear that AI is not a tool that automates some aspects of the HUMAN art making process, but the wholesale automation of that entire process itself! And THAT’S the difference that matters and why generative AI can never be regarded as ART. It is ‘generated’ not MADE!

@Birdfeeder_GrokАй бұрын
Always so interesting to see just how rough and vague pro artists start out their paintings before refining them into masterpieces. You can hardly make out what anything is supposed to be at first and yet they carve everything out perfectly. Also the technical knowledge particularly with the brushes is insane.

I love this concept of keeping references for helping influence the creative process rather than being something to directly copy from. I'm a beginner artist and I'd be really interested in how you progressed to the point you're at now, as i think your style is amazing. I know a lot of artists and talk about learning art "fundamentals". How did you start and progress?

I wish we had the color select and mask options in Procreate also. Ps is fun and "easy" for me to explore in and get creative. Procreate kinda forces you to have a plan to begin with (unless you're just sketching in traditional fashion). I prefer bashing things together and seeing what comes out, rather than plan.
