As a Baby Boomer, I watched this espisode as a child with my family and grand parents. It haunted me, and I loved it. Boris Karloff (aka Frankinstine) was one of the greatest entertainers of all time. Rest in peace.

Here in 2024. The movie,The Substance, starring Demi Moore, will be released soon. It has a similar premise as this episode -an aging star who turns to artificial means to retain their beauty, and the calamity that befalls her. I saw this episode on TV when I was 7 or 8. It scared me to death.

She was so beautiful, when I first saw this episode years ago, I was afraid that wig was going to make her bald, but she looked a whole lot worse. Im glad it wasn't real, still bothered me though to see her at the end looking like that.

It's almost as if the wig conferred on her a youth and beauty, maybe even talent, that she wouldn't have without the wig.

The Thiller TV series only aired for a couple seasons in the early 60's but it was excellent quality and holds up to modern viewing. There are some truly terrifying episodes.....There was one with a house full of haunted mirrors that is really scary.....This wig episode is fine, but not one of the best ones....

“Thriller” is an absolute classic. When I was a kid, it was “must see TV.” My favorite episodes were “Pigeons from Hell” and “Cheaters.”
