Just realized the sax for chrono trigger is the same one for compression of time from ff8. Also the music box sample is also in PMD

Never played undertale, but loved the music. The story was spoiled for me, so I didn’t buy it. The music is BEAUTIFUL though.

Bit late to the party but I really love the breakdown. I think the next step beyond enjoying a piece of art is breaking it down and understanding WHY you love it. I don't have much ambitions to create entire OST's or anything but its something I have been wanting to break into. Ill be sure to read Toby's TwitLonger post but what other resources do you recommend someone who has listened to a wide range of video game OST's but has little experience with actual music composition?

The spreadsheets are absolutely beautifully thorough, and very extensive, and the music player looks cool! Thanks a bunch! Shalom. <3 As a musician, and a gamer since the early 90s after being born in 89, I f*cking love the video! ^_^ hehe.

sega cd had cd audio for songs when the genesis was around ,, I'm a synth nerd and love the FM synth in the genisis but sega cd had some great soundtracks . Ecco the dolphin is one of the best soundtracks ever made. It was cd audio but they were using the genesis FM synth but it was actually mixed right..

the play station one is considered to be as good at 6000 dollar cd players. I got one because I have a good stereo and now I listen to cds all the time. If you look up modded ones for audiophilia playstation cd players they look pretty cool

I know the video is from 7 months ago and I'm late but recently, I learnt that many music of Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and also Twilight Princess used several times the samples from the CD "Distorted Reality". We can hear that in the tracks "Inside the Deku Tree", "Ikana Valley", "Stone Tower Temple", "Twilight", "Twilight Real", "Zant Battle" and more. The guys at Nintendo probably loved a lot this CD ^^ Your video is very interesting about this theme !

When it comes to sampling in video games, the Amiga is a veritable treasure trove of examples. Xenon II and Ninja Warriors are standout examples from memory.

14:46 Jak and Daxter also used sequenced audio (it even did a cool technique where it had certain instruments only turn on in certain situations or locations, so it actually has an adaptive soundtrack). There is streamed music during cutscenes though.
