Where is OP? Black squirrels are not rare in the Northern US or in the Mid Atlantic

I've lived in this house in Pennsylvania for 23 years and this is the first one I've ever seen. Looked it up and 3 different sources say they're rare (1 in 10k). Maybe it means out of all squirrels worldwide 🤣

I know there is a lot of cord exposed, but they only seem to chew right above the camera.
