Great stuff again, Bob! I really look forward to these videos coming out and I'm picking up lots of info. I fished this lake twice this week (June 24 and 26) with some mixed results. Chronny hatches were insane both days but the fish were gorging on leeches and adult mayflies on the surface as well. Can you expand a bit on your set up when you were stripping with the booby? I've only been fishing them under an indicator but I'm interested in that method as I've heard it talked about a few times now.
@bobtistaoutdoors6 күн бұрын
Absolutely. I use the Rio fathom WF6S7 and about a 5 foot leader of 8lb seaguar Tatsu fluorocarbon. I cast it out then strip out about 10ft of line and just let it sink for as long to get it to the bottom and just strip back with usually short 6-8 inch strips until it comes back. I always try to incorporate pauses randomly as well
@HighCountryBC6 күн бұрын
@@bobtistaoutdoors Sounds great, I'll be giving that a try tomorrow. Are you using an intermediate or full sinking line for this method or does it matter much?

I used the 2 gram float. It was great until I tried to pick up and cast. It seems that the float wanted to torpedo down when I went to pull the line for the first cast.

AS for loons I have had battles with them over the years. A couple of lakes in the Cariboo have them bad. They see you with a fish on and come and take right off the hook. I have had to throw rocks at them to keep them away. Caught a seagull on a kokanee rig and a ospray grabbed one of my kokanee and flew off with it still with the hook in the fish, lots of line taken, tried to break the line but did not want the hook in the osprey so the tug of war began. Finally it dropped the fish. The seagull was hooked in the bill so we had quite a time getting the hook without being bitten and thumped by the wings. Loons just steal your fish.
@bobtistaoutdoorsАй бұрын
Very true. I had a similar experience with an Osprey and I'd rather deal with loons stealing fish than hooking a bird by accident

I have a couple questions about the Garmin. Where did you get the post that has the transducer attached and is the transducer pointing down to be able to see around the boat? Looks like you can see at least 50 ft out from the boat in 20 ft deep of water and you rotate the transducer to see forward, sides or back of boat (like the old Hummingbird Fishing Buddy but a lot nicer).

So awesome to see family having a good day of fishing on such a wonderful lake. That parking lot was packed. Where were all the other boats? A mild winter and no partial winter kill this winter the lake should have some lurkers in there this year. I remember about 6-8 years ago that lake was amazing because of no partial winter kills there for 3-4 years. I’ll be there this fall. Like to fish it when only a couple boats on the lake. Don’t forget about the small bay to the right from the launch. Some nice fish in there at times. I’ll say hi if I see you out there.

Probably gonna pick up one of these to use as my floating line/indicator rod primarily. My impression is that, with the softer tip, it wouldn’t be ideal for intermediate/sinking line setups. Curious to know your thoughts on that. I’m thinking I’ll find a faster action, perhaps 9’6” rod, better suited for casting those sinking lines. Any recommendations?
@bobtistaoutdoors5 ай бұрын
I think this rod would be pretty nice for the slower intermediate lines maybe upto a type 3. I like faster shorter rods for sink lines. I use 9ft 6wts. The 9'6" rods are a great compromise for both methods and I use compromise very lightly. As far as brand in a 9.5ft I like the Scott centrics for high end. Mid priced I would use the TFO legacy.
