It would have been nice if you had spent some time showing the interior of the car rather than just inside the trunk.

An American version of a Rolls Royce, but better. The Russian dictator, Josef Stalin, liked the '42 Packard so much, he wanted the Russians to build him one with the exact grill and side chrome lines. It was not a convertible, of course, it was patterned after a full sedan with 4 doors. It had the same tail lights as well. kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2TJi55-eaqsipY

We had a series 62 coupe. No AC or power windows. Black with black/silver fabric, black carpet, and white vinyl. $4500. I passed my driving test in it. Lots of room under the hood. Easy to maintain.

USSR nor only copied the Packard design. Some of the tooling from the Packard plant ended up there too. Before the revolution, the Tsar owned a Packard that was outfitted with tank-like tracs on the back and skis on the front.

This car does not say deVille on it. I don't believe Cadillac made a deVille convertible in 1960, and wikipedia doesn't mention one. This car is a 1960 Series 6200 convertible. Yes, the upholstery had been redone, but no, the convertible did not have a back seat armrest in 1960. The stitching pattern used on this car is not quite right because it originally left the centers of the seats plain and this one extends the tufting across them. The taillights were not "moved to the bumpers for 1960". They were there in the 1959 models as well. But the bumper taillights in 1959 were in a squarish frame rather than an oval, and there were two additional taillights on either side of each fin. The taillights on this car are upside down, judging from other 1960 Cadillacs.

In this advertiser's other video of this car, which shows only external views, he labels it as 1942 Packard 160, which it of course is NOT, tho' it is a nice '42 Packard 120, assuming you like usual clutter of sidemounts, gargoyle hood ornament, whitewalls. But in this video, since he finally shows interior and under hood views, he entitles it simply "1942 Packard..." Sportsfans, beware of fast shuffles like this, regardless how downhome, sincere, aw shucks the presenter seems. Push open vent windows, 120 fan & belt, 1599 on cowl plate = 120. Note the red Electromatic pad on the brake instead of the clutch pedal.

I saw your comment on the other video, and was hoping you were mistaken. But it looks like you are correct. Wow! I can't imagine how angry this would make a buyer to find all of this out when it's too late! Do you know how much of a difference in value between what it's claimed to be vs what it actually is? I'm very curious, to know what the degree of temptation is for one to be dishonest. Oh course there should be none, and I do not roll as such. If there's one thing that I despise it's a thief! Then putting liars at an infinitely close second place. Thank you for making me much more wary to the risks of getting ripped off, because I'm actually shopping for one of these cars. I'm hoping to find a nice clean, stock 36/40 black, blue, or green 120 sedan, and will be much more careful from now on. Thanks again!

This is NOT a One-Sixty, but a One-Twenty with 160 badges, something done all too often. Friends know this car. Now we know why during the course of this long video, there are no interior/dash shots, and the hood remains closed.

Doesn't the model number coincide with the wheel base? (Please advise if you would be so kind.) If so, a tape measure could possibly end the controversy. That and if it has a matching eight cylinder engine. I don't think the 120s had any eights in them. They all had sixes. I don't know what this as advertised should go for compared to what you suspect it may actually be, but from here it's hard to deny what a great car this is. At least great looking. And a low line wouldn't have all of those options from the factory, like the spares, spots, top, and enough chrome to make a dozen cheese ball Harleys. But I suppose all of that could be fudged by a slick body man, which the previous owner apparently was so. . . I just hope you're mistaken because he seems like a good guy, and the fact that he managed to acquire it from his departed freind instead of a cold hearted bank getting it makes for a much better end to this story. I know one thing for sure, is that I would love to own it!😏

Actually the reason is you're on the "drive by" video. There are two more videos showing those areas, and 200 images via the link in the description. This is a long wheel base car with the 8 cylinder engine despite your conclusion from false reasoning. Here's the link provided right in the description to more information. Enjoy: www.sunsetclassics.com/1942-packard-160/

***** yes those are the right hubcaps. My Aunts friend had a 63 Cad Convertible, got, it new, but it didn't have Air either, but the car was bought new in the SF bay area and didn't need it there, when she moved to Northern California with our hot summers, she added a 71 Coupe DeVille with air and laughed she had one for hot days and one for cool days, she sold the Convertible in the 80's and got more for it then than she paid for it new
@tibork3845
@tibork3845 9 жыл бұрын
+George Keyser I believe this is the real deal as most coupe conversions 1) don't have a real top due to requiring extra reinforcement pieces welded inside the body, the floor and even the chassis, 2) most have a small section of the roof left to reinforce the windshield frame as the coupe frame is not strong enough to hold a standalone windshield in place. The chrome trim is also the correct Series 62 and also has the correct interior which are different from the Series 62 coupes. So true conversions are very costly and time consuming.... I have seen some people that did the complete conversion but those were very costly and time consuming so most conversions are simply a roof cut off, no functioning top and incorrect interior.

***** Hi George, great to hear you also owned some before, these cars are a true creation of art from a time when car manufacturers placed a lot of emphasis on styling. I too own two of them right now, a Series 62 Sedan and a real Series 62 convertible that I am restoring. Yes true conversions are very difficult because even the chassis has extra pieces welded on them for better support so most people just simply cut the tops off. These cars are however very easy to recognize. I too have seen a coupe of true conversions done so really only the VIN would tell if it's an 'F', or a converted 'J' or 'G' model. Would love to see a picture of all 15 of your Cads lined up! :)

Not 275 hp, but 325...and why is everyone so worried about an FM radio? FM was in its infancy in 1959. Mostly, all you could receive was similcasted from AM.

Hi .. one correction at 1:06 says 275 HP but they were actually 325 HP - and the optional tri power engines that produced 345 HP. There were no engines producing 275 HP in the 1959 models.
