@StaheliWestАй бұрын
Increasing the baling window and improving hay quality has never been easier. Traditionally, hay had to be completely dry, and farmers relied on natural dew to bale it. But with the steamer, you can apply steam to achieve the ideal moisture level. This helps retain the leaves on alfalfa, compress the flakes more tightly, and create bales that hold together better. No more waiting for the perfect natural conditions-now you can create the moisture you need, when you need it!

What’s the water for? I use to run bailers as a kid but never heard of water being used. I only used a single bailer nothing fancy. Generally curious.

bonjour je suis agriculteur en france . Merci de me donner des explication sur la machine qui se trouve entre le tracteur et le presse à bottes cubiques. merci jean francois
@StaheliWest2 ай бұрын
Thank you for your question! The machine between the tractor and the baler is called a DewPoint hay steamer. It generates steam, which is injected into the hay during the baling process. The steam softens the hay, making it ideal for baling, especially in dry and arid regions. With this machine, we can bale hay around the clock, as it allows us to create the perfect amount of moisture to retain the leaves and soften the hay during the process.

Im curious?! What exactly do you mean by a "steamer" for hay? What are you accomplishing?
@StaheliWest5 ай бұрын
We make a machine that injects steam into the hay while it is being baled, to make a high quality product without the need for natural dew. It increases the time frame in which you can bale and allows you to make high quality hay all day and night.

It’s not as useful in the east as it is in the west. So it depends where you are and well not a ton of people like them it’s mainly just the Midwest where you’ll see them put to great use.
@StaheliWest7 ай бұрын
Our market is predominantly in the West and Midwest, where it is drier. We also sell to other countries that are more arid. However, we do have steamers running and more humid, and wet climates. For example, we have guys using it in Canada, and this year it has been drier up there, so they are really putting it to good use. In humid climates, it's very difficult because the baking window is so small. There may be hours during the day that the hay is too dry to bale, and that's when you would use this machine.

How many small farmers can afford that shit?
@StaheliWest7 ай бұрын
It will pay for itself. It will reduce machinery costs, and increase revenue because of the better hay quality. It makes total financial sense. Especially if you have multiple balers that you can downsize and still get more done.

Good to see the steamer technology being applied to round balers. Round balers need steam worse than big squares, in my experience. I do think the steam needs to be applied to the crop a little before the pickup hits the crop though. The loss of leaves (alfalfa mainly) starts at the pickup. Seems to me there needs to be a little time, however short it is, for the steam to penetrate the plant before the pickup disturbs it.

Great to see some advancements and technology brought to the small baler sector which has really been long overdue. Many farmers have crafted after market systems to gain information from their balers but to have something more simple and integrated will be fantastic. Well done Staheli West and Agco 👏
