I consider this time period the golden age of emulation. I had just bought my first windows PC and the internet was catching on. The fiasco with Bleem was going on roughly the same time and snes and genesis emulation was improving at a fantastic rate. Additionally MAME was starting to become popular. It was heaven for anyone who loved arcade and video games. We have come a very long way since then, yet N64 still isn't 100%. It just goes to show how difficult it is (was) to write emulators for some of these consoles. Great video!

In the Early 2k's around the time I was using ePSXe, I Found a DOS PSx Emulator. It worked, not good, but it worked. I tried everything in my power to tweak the DOS Drivers but the emulator wasn't ever updated again

The first Monster Hunter game I ever played thanks to my uncle, he may have departed now but his spirit lives on and whenever I play this, it reminds me of him. That's why this series (this title specifically) is very close to my heart. That's why you have my eternal thanks sire... Hope to see more projects like this in the future.

You just got a subscriber! I've been using reshade and started thinking bout enb series, but this helped out. While i love some things on enb, reshade is just way easier to use. And now it has global illumination with its latest update. You are awesome thank you! I'm looking forward to watching more of your vids

I used something on PC well before no$. It may have been Marat's emu but I'm pretty sure it was freeware. It had a gameboy bezel graphic. GBemu or something simple like that. Late 90s.

Found this by coincidence. I'm the author of the infamous GenEm that was more or less the first emulator for that machine that ran games and not only demos. The hard thing back at that time was that most of the things I did was looking at disassembly of the code and getting a guess. As I had no access to a real hardware (never saw a MegaDrive/Genesis in real life before ;-) At least for the first months I had no access to a documentation of the hardware. Emulation was entirely based on raster-lines, no cycle-exact emulation was even started or sounded even manageable with CPUs running at 33-100MHz at that time. Thank you! Brought back memories for sure.

5 years later, and this video is starting to get even more useful since MH TRI is getting ONLINE back to the glory days! great video !

Hey Too Late Nate, do you know a good dithering filter for Reshade. I want to use it with retro game collections on steam as these older consoles expect it for transparency / color blending. As stated in the video, apologies for the game audio, it's been fixed and was a slight oversight on my part. 😔 What wasn't shown in this video was the game afterward in which I decapitated both of my comrades with a single Zweihander swing.
