I had the pleasure of seeing her live in Nov 2024 in my humble town of Prescott, AZ. She was 83 when I saw her and sounded fantastic. Unlike divas of the modern era who often blow every note out at maximum throttle, Dionne sings with a gentle lilting quality that lures you in and then builds to a crescendo when the songs lyrics and melody call for it. The lyrics of Hal David are timeless, as are the melodies of Burt Bacharach. It was destiny the three of them met.
