What about Handel?
@aml53213 ай бұрын
Thanks. It’s a worthy question. Handel, interestingly enough is claimed by both the Lutheran and Anglican churches as their own. That said, GFH certainly grew up in the Lutheran Church and frankly contributed much do the musical life of all Christendom as well as that of humanity in general. I hope to record some Handel in the not too distant future.

Bailing out criminals that attack police officers. Absolutely shameful.
@aml53213 ай бұрын
Hi Tim. Just to keep the record straight, the church itself actually is not responsible for bailing anyone out. As for me, I’m just a preacher and an organist. Peace.

The mark of a musician who truly understands the soul of the organ is one who understands how to work with the resonance of his space... too many organists continue to play at a rhythm without respect for the resonance of a room. The following echo and silence are part of the performance as a brilliant fanfare. Without silence, the fanfare just becomes noise¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Great concert. Where does one mind end and another mind begin? Anthony! Great ideas percolating around those two swirling mavens of sound. The ONLY thing which could possibly have enhanced this concert was a crazed, nonsensical spewing vocalist who encapsulated the ravings of a Phil Minton like acolyte on an amphetamine fueled acid trip in the back seat of a car madly careening down the road with the ghost of Hunter S. Thompson at the wheel!

Telemann has some great footprints for me to step into: Born in the same town like I was, (almost exactly to the day) 300 years before I was, gaining his musical experience exactly like I currently do. Unfortunately, the predecessor organs at the Magdeburg Cathedral, most notably the Compenius organ where he originally used to play, have been completely destroyed in the mean time, with the latest casualty being the 1906 Röver organ, which was destroyed in the infamous air assault near the end of WWII on January 16th 1945. But, following his steps, I'm still proud that I already had a few chances to play the current 2008 main organ on the West balcony --- a symphonic monster and fabulous instrument. Thanks for taking the time to listen. Also, thank you for the great links. Monster indeed! But in a good way. Also - bravo to your courage and ingenuity in taking well known themes and "running with them"! Keep at it - the autodidactic approach worked for Telemann - it's working for you!
