Hey. I noticed you sound the car horn so much in the video e.g when approaching a parked car, a bend in the road etc. Does everyone do the same in your country?? Coz it seems different from what we would do in my country.

I love how towards the end it starts to sound like a garbage truck lol those engines overheat so easily. That’s part of the reason why it doesn’t have a recirculate option for hot air; it helps reduce the heat load when coming from outside. I can only imagine how little it took in a climate that

My family's base-model 2008 w/ ZERO OPTIONS (even had 2WD - 170K miles) sounded like that. at least with ours, with that TERRIBLE 5-speed had some part in that sound. Idk what Ford did when designing it, but they didn't have it figured out. Ours never had the trans-fluid changed, because we had a family mechanic service it, and he didnt know how to change it then, but by the time he figured it out, it was too late. Last month we had scrapped it, because it (ironically) overheated, since the t-stat housing (cheap plastic part) cracked. It also shut off in the middle of I-75, because of classic Ford throttle issues, and the cats were stolen- Pretty much a rolling death trap.

@@XaviDaKringeKid dude thank you for responding I didn’t even notice. That’s crazy that you had the same exact problem with overheating and it wasn’t even a 4wd system. Those sealed transmissions deter a lot of mechanics or they’ll charge you a bunch extra because it’s a bit of a hassle, vs any other normal tranny would be a piece of cake like an oil change. Most places like jiffy lube or mavis tell me to go elsewhere when I used to ask. I noticed that on cold days (50°F or lower) it would run somewhat better especially when the hood was left open but latched while driving. I always have my heat on full blast when driving and besides putting octane boosters in it (to offset power loss due to heat) it’ll extend the driving capacity an extra 20-30 minutes. I literally could never take it on any highway because anything above 50MPH would get it overheating with that loud noise in under 10 minutes. A family friend sold it to us so when I said there was something up with the car my family acted like I was ridiculous/ overreacting, until owning the car for about a year; there’s not much you can deny or refuse to believe at some point, it literally is what it is. Mechanics say there isn’t anything wrong with it as far as they could tell, as in the transmission or the engine or any leaks or anything like that, so that was fam’s basis even though I literally owned the damn thing and knew how it should and shouldn’t have functioned. I guess it’s too late for you now but I’m almost at the bottom of it and I believe it has to do with the ECU. Like 95% sure, and then whatever extra damage the ECU malfunction inflicts on components. I read on an explorer forum that somebody had the same exact problem especially bad when going up hill, which definitely does it for mine too. He said he reset the ECU (which obviously controls the cooling system among other things) and the problem never came up again. Haven’t tried that yet, but I’m just trying to get it off my hands and get ANYTHING else. I charged my battery since I figured it wouldn’t be a bad idea considering it’s never driven for more than 30 minutes or on the highway at a consistent speed; the following morning it drove like a different car, and it wasn’t even fully charged. Not a better car, just easier to steer, less sluggish, slightly better gas mileage, less loss of pickup the longer I drove, etc… it being less sluggish means the engine doesn’t have to be worked as hard (a relatively low HP naturally aspirated 4.0l six cylinder engine at that, total furnace beyond 1/4 throttle) so it’s much more manageable to drive. Still won’t take it on the highway or dare to try and drive it like a normal car, somebody else could afford that😭
