During his chemotherapy at Dell Children's Hospital in Austin TX and bone marrow transplants at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, I was shocked to learn how little funding is directed towards pediatric cancer research. Patient care at those two hospitals was very good, but the treatment protocols at the time hadn't changed much in several years. Dr. Robert Krance at TCH shared his frustrations with me once that he had been feeling for a long time that new treatments were just over the horizon, but that progress was agonizingly slow. Thank you for dedicating so much time and energy to cancer research. It will be a bittersweet day for me when a cure is discovered - I will never hold my Radley Moon again, but I will be happy knowing that children and families are safe from such dreadful diseases.
