Hi Ed, defo eeb territory. That drop is super chill, you pretty much just roll off it at a jogging pace, hit the berm and take all the speed you want into the ski jump. Not been there for about 2 years but it looks like not much has changed except the leaves hiding the trials. You'd actually like that road gap too on Balboa, but its worth seeing it ridden first or get a tow in just so you can judge the speed and where to aim for the landing, off memory you want to avoid landing to much to the left as the landing kinks to the right. Ride it like a jump rather than a drop and it just feels better
@edgmtb517718 күн бұрын
@@Gaz_511 yeah that drop did look fairly chilled when I saw others do it earlier that day but by the time I'd worked round to it everyone else had disappeared and I didn't want to risk an OTB with no - one around. That road gap is a bit more challenging and never saw any one do it! So maybe next time....

@@OldBeanMTB yep a470 doesn't give up those last few easily! Boomslang was a daft idea though!!!
@theHen1Ай бұрын
I don't mean to mean to be harsh but you are no where near good enough to be hitting blind jumps like the ones on Boomslang without looking at them first. Having a 'bigger' qualifier doesn't mean much if you are going to attempt to send the gaps after it without at least looking at them. You got off lightly on A470 as well, follow someone in who knows the speed next time. I'm only saying this so you don't have to learn yourself the very painful and hard way.
@edgmtb517729 күн бұрын
@@theHen1 hi, yep, your totally right and I agree. I should of known better on Boomslang, the gaps are not the issue, it's what follows and how quickly you arrive if you haven't checked it out first!!! However a470 was never really an issue apart from I can't carry the speed through the whole line. Might have to put some really hard cranks in after the first set next time. Cheers for the comment 👍
@theHen129 күн бұрын
@edgmtb5177 yeah totally the gaps on boomslang aren't big or difficult but you need to be prepared for the berm on the landing! A470 is slightly tricky once you go round the big left hander. Everyone puts cranks in after that unless you are seriously good at jumping. Some of those jumps have steepish landings so if you come up short it's very easy to get bounced over your bars. Following someone who knows the speed is your best bet and there are loads of friendly riders at BPW that will be happy to tow you in.
@theHen127 күн бұрын
@@edgmtb5177 this is a great example of what can happen on a470 if you come up short on those jumps. This guy was super lucky. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZ6QhYR8lrmBp5Ysi=dTpoL7DegpLPhKc7

Well ridden mate. I've done most of these and you've made them look easy, which they are not. What im not getting from the vid is any sense of speed for how well you're riding them. What screen mode are you recording in as it looks very tightly cropped. It looks to me like its recorded in linear rather than superview or hyperview? If so that would explain the loss of speed and the cropping. Whilst linear will remove all of the fisheye effect, it will also remove any sense of speed which is a shame as you're riding those trails really well. You will always get a slightly higher sense of speed on the chest mount due to the camera being closer to the floor but on the vid they look almost identical. The other observation would be the color saturation. It looks a little too much and almost unnatural. Is this straight from the camera or have you colour graded during editing? Sorry for being super critical mate I just think the video isn't doing your riding the justice it deserves😊
@edgmtb51773 ай бұрын
@@Mark_Page_MTB you can tell you know your stuff! The whole day was recorded in the wrong mode, I didn't realise until I was sat in the car ready to leave😂🤣😂 Switched it back to hyperview and left it alone!
