I mean I have ABS but thats it. No 4wd, no TC, open differential and its a tiny colorado. Actually blew my mind how well it handles in snow with just snow tires and a bunch of sand bags. Didnt even have studs. I do fishtail here and there but thats a given, I can steer out of it. Goes unplowed hills pretty well

Knock sensors have a pure quartz crystal the produces an electric signal. It looks like an A/C syne wave as its amplitude increases or decreases. Identical technology (Except Shape) used for submarine sonar, some fish finder models, etc. The PCM has an algorithm containing lines of code to control ignition timing. They are ground in the block once torqued properly as I use dielectric grease to prevent failures. GM engineers spend hours on best location under conditions of temperature, fuel anti-knock values. For example, under 450 RPM, ignition timing is retarded to start, then switches to input signals from knock sensors as they have since 1972 with the introduction of HEI. Crank sensors signal tell which two pistons are on TDC, while the cam sensor signal indicates which cylinder is on compression stoke to be ignited.
