My membership just expired and i wont be going back not worth renting a game to use what u soppose to own

I have a question. I am hugely neurodivergent and a person who puts pressure on herself wayyyy too much. I've learned that my way is not consistency by any means, because wanting to play, write, read, comes and goes as quickly as next day wanting or not wanting to deal with it for months. If I stop my subscription to iRacing, does my account go away, my other paid stuff go away? I don't have an account yet, but want to. I have ACC too but didn't even dare touch (fear) and played many other sims just for Steam achievements (which are negative to me).

While I wish the pricing model would just let you access all content with a subscription, the pricing model itself isn't the issue for me. The issue is that a lot of days, you're paying money just to dodge people who use their cars like ballistic missiles. You can get that for free on every other sim/game.

You definitely get what you pay for. I've been on for about a year, and I feel a track is "worth it" after only 2-3 decent races. As far as cars I only bought PCup so far and still figuring out how to reach the limit with it. I make decent money so I try to budget about $70-80 per season to get the 6 item bulk discount, as well as getting me 8 tracks in the 1-2 series I want to race to get either $4 or $8 back in participation credit. After a year, I am starting to have many of the tracks for the next season so I have fewer purchases to make.

Idk i get some great battles whether its from the back of the grid or the front of the grid. Much better than any other sim game for wheel to wheel racing. Yes you do occasionally get eliminated by bullshit and it is frustrating.

IMO everything can feel like that. For me it´s not Iracing, but boardgames. The trick is having a good mix of different passions. Movies, Reading, Sports, etc. Then you can focus on something different whenever someting feels stale.

I've been sim racing for nearly a decade and I have learned that what works for me is, as soon as I experience fatigue with one car or race series I shift my focus to something else. I always focus on learning. At one point I drove a lot of oval even though I'm definitely not an oval guy but it gave me the breathing room I needed and it was fun being a rookie again. I've also gone months without driving if it didn't interest me, but I kept coming back eventually. Its just to much damn fun. PS: Consider sticking to monthly payments even though its more expensive. It gives you the option to quit for a period.

I tried ice-Racing once. Never again. I'm amazed that it has survived. It's abysmal.

There is no burnout if you hide your position in the race in the relative and hide other people Irating. That way you can just focus on having fun. Forget about irating and stats. Go out there and just have fun with the expectation that at any point you can crash and all you have to do is move on to the next race. Iracing definitely felt like a stressful hobby for me and burnout kicked in when I worried about position and irating. Also you will race cleaner and safer and finish more races when you remove all the external pressures from Irating, position, License class, etc that make you make mistakes in the first place. Cheapo way: Two MAX7219 displays, oen has eight 7-segment numeric displays, and optionally RGB leds! Just need an arduino for it. Total cost with leds: like 6 USD *P.s. you need a soldering iron* !

I definitely found it pretty damn expensive over the past 12 years. I was slow to purchasing tracks and cars. None of this is helped by all purchases being in USD while being a Canadian! Even participating in leagues usually cost money. Through meeting and developing friendships on the service, knowing what they've paid for their racing setup, subscription, cars and tracks.. They could have most definitely paid similar amounts of money getting into real life racing! In understanding the "you get what you pay for" line, it most certainly gets discouraging if you're NOT rich and think about what you've paid for this "simulator/game". Then, you get into the physical setup! Even more money, I had a cheap computer, wheel and pedals with a single monitor for years but staying competitive is near impossible. You can't be competitive with 20-35FPS! So, there's people (I would say even more now than ever), that have tens of thousands of dollars in their actual setup.. Triple monitors, top of the line pedals/wheels and rigs that allow you to feel what the car is doing underneath you, arguably making it pay to win.. I can attest to this as well as I have played on a friend of mine's $1200 fanatec DD1, and it is game changing! Coming back to my CSL elite made me realize how it can actually be pretty unfair as you don't even know the rigs people you are racing have! So, long story short, end of rant. This is a pretty expensive "hobby" to get into. Not only due to the decision of the devs/company making the service, track and cars quite a bit. But, also to the fact that to truly stay competitive, you will most likely want to have a good seat, computer, wheel and pedals.

Get yourself a GT3 Car, GT4 Car & a Formula Car such as F4. Aswell as a few popular circuits like Nordschleife/Nurburgring, Redbullring, Hungaroring, Spa and you will have a couple really good races to choose from each and every week of the year. All of that equates to around $100, but it will keep you enteratined for an entire year, thousands of hours.

You forgot to mention that you can actually make a little money even as a rookie to help pay for the cars and tracks. It’s not much, but if you race in enough races each quarter, they give you $10 in credit. That’s $40 per year. That could buy a few cars or tracks.

Used to drive iRacing, but quickly realized how expensive it gets if you want to race even one series each season. Combine that with the sterile feel of the driving and it was just super easy to jump over to ACC and never look back. It blows my mind how this pricing model still allows them to keep the player base they have, but each to their own I suppose. On top of the absolute money you lose, the thing that really cracked the camels back was the subscription model. Subscribing for a month at a time is super expensive, while committing to a year just gets super stressful when you don't feel like driving. Having a subscription run on the background while you go out in the summer time keeps it always on the back of your mind and truthfully takes away from whatever else you want to do. I suppose I'm just not committed enough.

iRacing has a huge momentum right now. You mention a few other titles, but let's be honest. LMU and rF2 are in big trouble, Rennsport was a huge flop, AMS and other titles are too unpopular to actually compete in the same segment. ACC is valid though, but seems like everyone is just anticipating Kunos to release AC Evo. iRacing has continuity, which seems to be a major driving factor. They have a solid product that gets massive updates through the year, and they keep on gathering licenses and expertise. Therefore, committing to iRacing is currently appealing, and you can see that in their numbers. The Covid-run of simracing is settling, meaning that creating a new niche will be ever harder.

I was thinkin about getting iracing. I wanted to get into sim racing and get competitive with it. I was gonna go for F1 or onroad cars. Is it worth it ?

I understand iRacing has so many races going on, and those servers aren't free to run, I just find it ridiculous to pay a monthly subscription to access the game and such high prices per car and per track, surely it should one or the other, either a one time payment to own the game and charge for every piece of content in it or give us everything for the subscription, either way it's still tempting me, I've dabbled in it a bit before

As someone who was just coming back to Racing games back then, I remember picking this game up and thinking this is completely awesome.. I'm really disappointed I can't go back and play it now.

The cheapest way of doing this for me was just buying a lcd 7'' screen (honestly bigger than i was expecting) which cost me 35€ on aliexpress, it acts as a monitor and connects with a usb and mini hdmi cable, works amazing, sometimes in ETS2 i just watch a show on there instead of having simhub. Found some guy that 3d prints mounts for moza bases and after asking him he told me it would fit the screen, cost me like 13€

These are cool and all, but I found using a 6" tablet just works and is super cheap.

Game was launched in 2008. If you subscribed it on todays best value of 100 dollars for 2 years (including 50% discount), and never canceled your subscription, then you have already paid for it 800 dollars of subscription, to race mazda. It would have been cheaper for the players to buy the whole game for 200 dollars every 5 years, and get more cars and tracks on "basic" pack. Can you get it? 200 dollars for a game, when 60 dollars for nowdays AAA seems expencive. And thats the cheap option. Essentially, yearly subscription, is you buying the game again for the AAA price, to get nothing new. And what happens after spending 800 dollars for the past 16 years? Nothing, you cant race your Mazda, because you havent paid them enough for it already. What Iracing does is using the addictive method of "I paid so much already, I cant lose it, so I will keep paying".

My OCD wouldn't be able to handle the screen having a larger right side bezel.

I'm new to iracing - built a new PC almost specifically for it. I was expecting expensive but I'm pretty pissed off at the 'wasted' money involved. I bought 3x tracks and 3x cars for my first purchase, picked some of my favourite cars and tracks. So far, only of those tracks I've been able to drive, and the car combo I picked changed the next day, and I've not been able to use it. So it turns out, I can't even do test drives using my bought track/car combos? that content alone, was the price of a standalone AAA game. The racing is of course fantastic but such a paywall of choice.

bro if you compare iracing with the other racing games on the market where it's a one off purchase of, in the case of games like AC literally 5 bucks, iracing is OBJECTIVELY way too expensive, regardless of your opinion the market it is at does NOT IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM require a subscription base system, IN ADDITION to having to purchase each car and track seperately. it's quite literally, factually, way too much money that no one else is asking
