I appreciate the hundreds of engineering hours that went into this hack. And the groovy music.

Leave the pin hole for future draining. Just grind it flat, paint it and call it better than before.😊

Can a magnet work _through_ stainless steel 304 plate? I realise you showed it was slightly affected by the magnet, but I'n more interested on the magnet on the other side. In other words, supposing I'm able to fix a magnet onto one side of the 304 plate, can I get a magnet to stick to it and hold the plate?
@UnsanctionedFabrication14 күн бұрын
Yes it can, you could have a thick steel plate covered with thin stainless steel to get a magnet to stick. Or even a magnet glued etc to the back side, but it also depends on the thickness of stainless steel and the power of the magnet.

You are using the wrong cutting wheel those wheels are junk; you did not mention the thickness of the stainless steel you are cutting? the reciprocating saw, and jig saw actually do not wort to well, it just makes you look amateur!!!!

In cookware i prefer "low grade" Magnetic 18/0 stainless steel over conventional 18/10 stainless steel because id rather avoid the added nickel. The corrosive protectant quality doesn't justify its known toxicity for me
@MikeRoeserАй бұрын
I would you not use a good jig saw instead of the Sawzall? Makes no sense, cleaner cut, and heck of a lot safer.

Any reason it wouldn’t melt snow on a driveway?
@sparksmcgee66412 ай бұрын
yep it will but as a gas unit it would be a lot for the mobile gas line. Look at an electric unit and mount it on a frame so you can set it and forget. I looked at this for a house a few years ago. Didn't build that one but I've recommended it to clients for their houses. even if just for a front door area they can run on an existing circuit converted to 240v if need be.

This is a great video but just for anybody that's looking in to this there is actual boxes That you can buy with a lot of safety features That do this exact same thing. There are about 200 300 bucks But comes with Circuit Breakers And Over voltage protection and different things to keep you safe Especially if you're using this to charge an EV Just look up Quick 240 And it should pop up

How do I do that pipe shimmy on a vertical repair
@UnsanctionedFabrication3 ай бұрын
Without seeing your application, I would guess you need a couple holes close to each other, so one tool can shimmy it into place while the other will allow you control preventing from it dropping. It’s going to look like you’re knitting! 😂

Both grades have similar amounts of iron, chromium, nickel, manganese, silicon, and carbon, but the presence of molybdenum gives 316 stainless steel superior corrosion resistance properties compared to 304 stainless steel, particularly in harsh environments.
@osher874 ай бұрын
Nope. 304 has 18% Cr, the 316 has 16% Nickel % also 8% in 304 vs 10% in 316

Also the general use is for hot water in 316...big difference in corrosion resistance

Great video. I'm curious, is it possible to go the other way? Can you build a converter for a dryer plug to split into two 120v receptacles? Would you just build this in reverse, or does that create problems?

To everyone out there please don’t do this electrical codes exist to save us from this sort of risky business. I would appeal to KZbin to remove posting like this that might lead to dire consequences. Master Electricians speak up help put and end to this sort of video posted on social media.

"stainless steel should be non-magnetic" martensitic stainless steel: "are you sure about that?" Still, the corrosion resistance on martensitic stainless is nowhere near as good as in austenitic stainless like 304 and 316, so yeah for vinegar you definitely want non-magnetic/austenitic stainless
