I have a '93 320TE Sportline now, I had the Diesel for 12 years and decided I wanted something a bit faster, but still a W124 :)

I have a 1995 E300D Sedan, so post-facelift and last of that series. I do not have the turbo, as I prefer the natural engine simplicity. Has 264k miles and uses no oil (1/2 qt/5k miles and is tight- no blowby). It is plenty fast, due to torque, easily keeps up with traffic and accelerates, if pressed. But it loves to run between 85-90mph and will drift up there; you really need to watch it! In the US that will bring attention from friendly government officials, but it loves to cruise at that speed. I have owned many different MB's, including a glorious W140, but it wanted to run way over 100mph, while very silent; Glorious but too big of a car for my wife, so is gone, sadly. same with an R129 500SL- fast, but hard to rein in.

It was the vacuum pump, the bearings were about to leap for freedom... I recommend checking if your car has 200,000 miles or more.

Mercedes just called it 'Blau/blue' in their colour code when I looked it up but I think you are correct.

this is around 90mph, trucks are doing around 60mph. '94 E300D estate/wagon 4 speed auto

Can you still drive them in Germany ? In Poland stupid politicians want to create some "eco zones" and that would actually mean a ban on old diesel engines... I had e34 2.5tds and w124 200D and 250D, never had 300D but those I mentioned I consider very solid and trustworthy, I am looking for 300D now.
