Blum is leading furniture mechanism supplier. It has the best documentation and instructions on how to install and adjustments. Other brands’ documentations are simply horrible or non-existent.

Seeing this hinge I straight cringe at the reno industry in SG. Went to Excel, they only have Heavy/Medium version because MOST ID in Singapore only install Glass style lift up kitchen cabinet door. We wanted Wood door which is too light, so don't have parts. Blum also don't have. End up me and my brother fed up, discovered and went to Ikea to buy the hinge, since it's Blum OEM. ID refused to install say they dunno, then we request they manufacture the door for us, after Kitchen done, me and my brother install ourselves easily. The problem with Singapore's reno industry is that it's very passive and stagnant. Many just following each others, there's no innovation. Many design is locked within what local supplier brings in. When visiting ID and discuss about design, many of their design seems to just "follow a standard", and won't really think through the box on how to make it work (some completely lack the technical expertise, only know design and style, then do sales to close). Some straight off just tell you "cannot". Me and my brother are very DIY since young. Whole house painting, electrical, furniture and many things we do ourselves since young, we know things can be done. Just that we don't have a factory, equipment and time to do. I'm not saying we're better skilled than the carpenter, just saying we know things can be designed and done in certain ways as we've research a lot of house tour and showcase. But many ID just die die follow a modular idea to make things easy for themselves. Sorry for the rant... Happy CNY and Gong Xi Fa Cai!

@@lohteckngi5215 A clarification here is that this case didn’t allow Rhys to go find goggles etc before working on loosening the spalling concrete. As a lot of the pieces were about to fall. A good analogy for you is to imagine the situation facing Rhys was an emergency situation as if a doctor was driving along and come across a major traffic accident and the doctor have to work on saving the injured without the luxury of his operating theatre and surgical equipments. If Rhys did not treat the spalling concrete there and then and then wait until 2 months later to enter the house again during renovation. There is a high chance the the spalling concrete would have fallen and caused injury to home owner.

@@emmays7802 There are two different schools of thought in this case. For those going for industrial look, you can consider making the door frame outstanding with black paint. For those looking for more Muji style or Scandinavian style then you may consider painting the door frame to a similar wall colour that is lighter in colour palette. Do take note that new BTO door frames are made of PVC so we cannot paint it.

Why HDB BTO doesn’t include the shower screen cubicle? why must leave it for the renovation contractor to build it and create unnecessary issues with the wrong location of floor trap.

@@TS-pg1ns Not everyone wishes to build a glass shower screen. Hence the default is leaving empty, there is no right or wrong. But it leaves home owner with many customisation problems, to solve this we recommend to overlay the floor tiles to slope the floor to the correct floor trap.

With concealed aircon piping, what happen if there is a piping leak after a few years?

@@alfredleong7227 with proper servicing of the aircon units, there should not be leakage issues. However after the aircon units spoils after ten years or so then the replacement of the aircon units will require tearing down the box up that hides the aircon pipe and replacing the aircon piping etc then redoing the box up again. For many condominium and landed property projects, the aircon pipes are also hidden away in the false ceiling.

If you want to perform water leak test or ponding test, you can also add fluorescent dye to the water. It helps you to visually see or detect the leak.

It is possible to achieve sound proofing with partition wall. However, most partition contractors don't know the correct technique or material using partition wall. Hollow concrete block is also a good technique.

Why don't just take normal video instead of Live? quality better also. And you don't always have to use selfie mah. Just flip the camera around and point. You can also see what you're filming, and the back camera is usually better and usually have wide lens, easier to film.

why is it dangerous to run power sockets within the toilets? I see many hotels having sockets for hairdryers, some within mirror cabinets for charging electric toothbrush etc

Hotels have 110V sockets in the toilets, not 230V.

The area directly above zone 0 to the height of 2.25m from the bottom of the bath or shower is zone 1 Any fitting or appliance within zone 1 must be IPX4 (splashproof) or better, as well as a maximum of 12 volts (SELV) with the transformer located beyond zone 2.

Saw the dehumidifier rod at 8:38 Is there any benefit to using a dehumidifier rod if the air conditioner already provides a dehumidifying effect? Why is the rod mounted at the bottom of the cabinet? Wouldn't it be more effective to have the dehumidifier at the top of the cabinet, since humid humid air rises?

@@aCuria. Dehumidifier is good for Singapore humid weather conditions. The product specs want us to install at the bottom of the cabinet or vertically at the back of the cabinet. We followed the manufacturer’s guidelines on the installation. But not sure whether humid air rises or falls.

Then again modular carpentry has a lot of benefits like you have raised, low voc, lower manpower. But there is also high levels of customisation available. Edges are also infinite and not limited to the laminate size, so you can always have a clean finished edge.

Hi. As mentioned in the video around 6 minutes 53 seconds. For this house, homeowner opt for undermount sink to be built into the concrete sink support. However you can also do top mount sink if you wish. Undermount sinks are hard to replace if damaged. But top mount sinks are easy to replace however top mount sink have a silicon edge that you need to maintain and hard to clean the countertop.

Is boxing up the wall and adding extra door the only way to "conseal" / "beautify" the bombshelter door? Do people use Charcoal Crystal Panels or even laminate sheets / wraps to just "Paste" over directly, saving some space and perhaps some cost?

Very good protection using thin plywoods. Still can recycle for future projects. Other contractors merely use thin paper cardboard or tarpaulin sheets for ‘show’.

Concealment of aircon drain pipe is not advised. Difficult to maintain or repair in future. Stick to surface mount for ease of maintenance or repairs.

Seems most of the problems are due to Architectural design. Standard architectural requirements should be provided at the drawing/design stage. Surprise if these are not implemented in Singapore HDB detailing.

@@sharonbaby4660 can. Just add another layer of partition wall for the whole house and level up the walls. But take note this kind of money is what we usually call wasted money on purely aesthetic reasons. It is not cheap to do this in Singapore.
