There's a "tool" I often use in my workshop, which is the plate, and rollers, from inside an old microwave. It's useful for airbrushing, to turn the work with a stationary brush, and also for the type of cutting you did your cowl with. Btw, if you're cutting carbon-fibre, you need to be very careful about working with a respirator. I'm told it's not as nasty as asbestos, but it's towards that end of the ruinous stuff you can breath in!

Using the plate and roller from a microwave is genius!
@Fidd88-mc4sz8 сағат бұрын
@@invertmast I don't know about "genius" but I do look at things I'm about to dump to see if they can be repurposed. Actually the most useful took in my workshop (I make large-scale models held together by M1 (40 thou) diameter machine screws, washers and nuts) is a tooth-pick with a small blob of clean "blutak" on the end. It's just the thing for picking up tiny nuts etc and positioning them, or starting tiny nuts on a thread!

Interesting, I built at pair of 1:3.17 scale RAF gun-turrets which had compound curvatures, and were very complex to make optically clear "perspex" for the turret cupolas. I used photo-etched brass for the structure, and bolted the panels to the brasswork with M1 machine-screws, nuts and washers. I recognised a lot of the issues you had. The use of small magnets was crafty! Keep up the films, it's great to watch!

What about applying Future floor polish to the glass? I've done this for years on scale models and it makes the glass really clear even on vacu formed canopies. Future is sold as Pledge floor polish now a days, same stuff. I always thin Future or Pledge with rubbing alcohol for airbrushing, you can dip it too. Hard to stop calling it Future after all these years but it's made by Pledge now.

@invertmastАй бұрын
I cant take all the credit, Merlyn Graves who designed and built the Cessna did an amazing job. The model is a real joy to fly and has no real bad habits, which can obviously be seen in the video. While the airplane isnt overpowered, it is adequately powered which will actually help extend its lifespan when it comes down to engine failures. The airplane has had no less than 6 engine failures this year alone (both left and right engines) and it flies the same no matter which engine, even with 0/0 thrust lines.

Thomas, my guess is this vinyl is made for automotive parts wrapping. Are you under the impression it will withstand exposure to gasoline, oils itc?
@invertmastАй бұрын
Everywhere that the fuel dots are or exhaust will be is painted, the areas of vinyl directly above those locations is painted over, so the edges are essentially sealed. I have high expectations that there will be few problems.
