Thanks to our selfishness? Sounds a bit facile and hypocritical. We don't vote for little parties, or even the Liberal Democrats, because we're selfish. It's an opinion, or a desire to influence the bigger parties.

Amazing explanation. Too bad the public spoke out of ignorance and we have to live with this entirely inferior system keeping two parties perminently switching power.

This looks like a wonderful film documentary about 'The Battle for North America' by Dan Snow. When will it be available on either BBC iPlayer, You Tube or DVD? It is a very relevant and important subject for we Canadians and also the British.

It isnt tipping over, you can sail a boat this way, its not the most elegant way, but this is what happens when you sail with high wind speeds.

Dan Snow is an example of BBC nepotism at its worst. The BBC is a public service broadcaster and in the United Kingdom its work is funded principally by an annual television licence fee. The BBC should be made to answer the following: 1. Where and when the vacancy for Dan Snow's position was advertised. 2. How many applications were received for this post. 3. What were the essential criteria for this vacancy. 4. When and where the candidates were interviewed. 5. Who conducted the interviews. 6. Who made the decision to appoint Dan Snow.

And also - it does not mean that you have a four way coalition - if the BNP get the fewest votes they are ELIMINATED - they are NOT brought into a coalition with the second preference of their voters. The second preferences are redistributed. They might even be for different things. I'd have thought most BNP voters second preference would be the Tories anyway - so I don't know what they were complaining about.
@matafuko11 жыл бұрын
There is always some way of finding similarities and reason to have different preferences for differing things. Like in your example - Pub, Coffee and Bowling are all lively and social whereas Church is quiet and introspective. So even if three wanted Church but the other seven had varying preferences on the others - then the group would still end up somewhere where they can chat and have a laugh rather than somewhere they have to sit down quietly and think about existentialism.
@matafuko11 жыл бұрын
I still lament the fact that this didn't go through. It seemed like the most sensible and fair system I could imagine - but evidently the scare-tactic "BNP could win!" propaganda won out in the end. The worst part is that if everyone votes to keep anything the SAME - then the government assumes we are happy to let THEM decide - so they won't ask us again when another issue needs to be figured out. I bet a LOT of the people who voted against it are wishing they hadn't now.
