Hey, I think that's intentional! Darren is an older model, so his movements are supposed to be more artificial, but he's a bit more durable. Helen is a new model, so closer to human, but more fragile.

Back in the mid-late 80's, I saw her perform in "Babes" in Los Angeles. Could see the talent even then. Several years later, I was lucky enough to perform with her. She's as nice and talented (with a great sense of humor) as you'd imagine.Richly deserves the accolades!

To the people complaining about how the characters look, get over it. Did you complain when Matt Dillon didn't have white blond hair in the movie? It makes sense that Johnny is Native American. Josh Boone brings down the house as Dally. Get over it. Also it's not Grease or West Side Story. Steve is included. No, he's not in the play adaptation. And SE Hinton approves. That's what matters.
