RFEM 6 is improved, compared to RFEM5. The graphic input is relatively the same. However the structural concept of effective length and buckling load is set to more visual in the current version.

The RFEM 6 is way difficult then the RFEM 5 :), IN RFEM 5 my member in ALU is passing in normal design by closing stability analysis otherwise there is an error 1022 (RFEM 5), but when i RUN RF FE LTB the member check passes. For RFEM 6 I am unable to find a manual method to run the RF FE LTB and notiably when i run the member analysis it is failing in stability, first thing i want to know how to close stability check in RFEM 6, lastly how to remove warning WA3002.00 saying Asymmetric sections not valid for LTB design and Asymmetric sections are not valid for combined stability design.
@DlubalEN5 күн бұрын
Hi, @ghilmandilshad9495! If you are not interested in LTB design checks in the RFEM 6 Aluminum Design add-on, you can simply uncheck the checkbox for LTB under the member's "Effective Length" input. There is not an equivalent RF-FE LTB add-on in RFEM 6 as all LTB checks are within the specific Design add-ons. If you still have further questions, feel free to email us your model to [email protected].

Hello there, Python programming is very useful but the problem in corporate computers is that that you cannot install libraries like pandas, xlwings etc because it needs admin to install it. Without the excel libraries for python, I cannot take advantage of this feature. Is there any way to install libraries without the admin password? Or is there any way to do automation directly between excel and RFEM like the RF-COM back in RFEM version 5? I've been using the RF-COM and I find it useful in creating my models and getting the results back to excel. What alternatives do you have now? I know you have Java, C#, or python. Python is the easiest to learn but the problem is as I mentioned above. Thanks.

Hi, @user-zl3br2oc8h! Our Webservice in Python, C# or JavaScript can be used with Visual Studio Code. VS Code offers two different types of setup, with the user setup you don't need admin rights to install packages as their location will be under you local AppData. You can find more information about it under the following link: code.visualstudio.com/docs/setup/windows For the Python console all packages are automatically installed on the system at the moment which requires admin rights. We will consider options to enable the usage of external libraries without admin rights in the Python Console and for In-App-Scripting for the future. Nevertheless you can already use our API from outside RFEM with VS code in user setup.

When you have applied the glass dead load to the transom in Self Weight load case, Why there are two other trasom load cases ? one with 1.0 other with 0.5, it is not clearly mentioned for what those loads are applied.
@DlubalEN9 күн бұрын
Hi, @ghilmandilshad9495! Load Case "Transom loads (in direction of fall)" indludes the horizontal loads on safety barriers in the direction of fall.Horizontal loads on safety barriers are regulated in chapter 6.4 of EN 1991-1-1. They depend on the categories according to their use. For category B2 the horizontal load is qk = 1,0 kN/m. Load Case "Transom load (in opposite direction)" includes the horizontal loads in opposite direction. According to the German national annex, the transom loads are to be applied in the opposite direction with 50%, but at least 0.5 kN/m.

I think the major improvement is the joint design according to AISC and EuroCode, compared to the old version RFEM 5. You don't have to create a dedicated FEA model using Ansys to analyze joint

Hi, @BoZhaoengineering! Thanks for the feedback. We agree the FEA approach in the REM 6 Steel Joints add-on is revolutionary in that any connection design is now possible! You are not limited to standard connection types. Additionally, the member design and connection design can be completed in a single model. We hope you enjoy working with RFEM 6.

Hello, Rfem is a versatile program. However, in your video, the steel profile optimization process works incredibly slowly. Even for a small model, the optimization process takes hours. My suggestion to you is to take a look at the profile optimization in the AutoCAD Robot Structural program. It's incredibly fast. It optimizes profiles based on weight, height, or width in seconds, not hours. You really need to focus on this issue. You should definitely change the optimization algorithm.
@DlubalENАй бұрын
Hi, @mehmetgoktepe5424! The optimization options in the Steel Design Add-on are very quick. The program will suggest a cross-section profile from either the entire list of profiles in the same cross-section family or you can create a "favorites" list to optimize from a selected list. The program will output the cross-section that reaches a design ratio as close to 1.0 as possible. If you prefer to optimize a section based on height or width, you can use a "parametric" section rather than a standardized to select the range of height/width values to optimize. If you find that the optimization is slow within the Steel Design Add-on, please email us your model at [email protected] and we can look into this further. Perhaps we can suggest a better workflow to increase your optimization time.

How did you model the column as a single member without creating a set of members when the beam is connected to the column?
@DlubalENАй бұрын
Hi @serdarakca7070! It's possible in RFEM 6 to keep members as one continuous element without creating a set of members by taking advantage of the "node on member" when a transverse member is framing into the element. The RFEM 6 online manual will explain this node type further. www.dlubal.com/en/downloads-and-information/documents/online-manuals/rfem-6/000037

@DlubalENАй бұрын
Hi, @beazapico! Yes, it is possible to export the reinforcement as a table in RFEM 6. The export function is available for the result tables in the module. For example, you can perform the steel stress verification and then export the table in mask 3.3. When exporting the table in mask 3.3, you can choose between FE mesh points and grid points. The grid can be adjusted as a property of the surface. Maybe this manual will also help you: www.dlubal.com/en/downloads-and-information/documents/online-manuals/rfem-6-concrete-design/004022

About the calculation taking a little bit longer , damn. The FEA model I made in a model of my own takes stupidly long, its been half an hour and the calculation isnt done. And I am doing only one joint in a relatievely small structure of some 250 members. Can you share some tips and tricks to malke the calculation take less time.
@DlubalEN2 ай бұрын
Hi, @andreibaltaga1079! We would be happy to help. The calculation time always depends on the number of joints defined and the number of load combinations in the model. When one or both of these are significantly big, the calculation performance will be affected. Therefore, we suggest to define the connection design at only the controlling locations for identical or similar connections. Additionally, load combinations that are not controlling can be excluded from the calculation. For further assistance, please email us your model without saved results to [email protected].
