Hey, yes I find most UTMB events easy to navigate as they usually have little flags or way markers to follow.

great run Jason and a really nice film production. Welling up at the end at strong finish and then with your daughter. I can only dream of such a run! just a quick question, how were you carrying your poles at the waist? 👍
@9970812 ай бұрын
thank you @paulharris7826 👍 yeah the way I carry my poles isn't common. I'd like a quiver bag like most use, but I have a Montane vest and don't think the Salomon quiver bags are compaptable with other running vests/bags. Anyway, to answer you question I wear a Salomon Pulse Running belt that allows me to slot my poles in. I have got on well with them like this and you can wear them on front or behind. It allows me to slot my GoPro in too! They're pretty handy on short runs too as you can carry a few jels, phone etc.
@paulharris78262 ай бұрын
Thanks for that info Jason@@997081 my UD vest has bungees but I like the slots that belt has. I've also realised you have arm warmers on....which stops overheating when you wear a long t under main t. Never thought of that til now! Cheers!
@9970812 ай бұрын
@@paulharris7826 yes they save the hassle of getting a jacket out of your bag at night too, if it's not too cold, and stops sun burn in the day.. I was surpsied I didn't change one item of clothing during the entire race 😅

Thanks @TheMgsjarvis 🙌 I just use cheap unbranded ones I got off Ebay.. I know Bearhug do them too, but basically the same thing. I used to feel that way myself when doing my first few races but keep showing up and soon those 50kms should become and feel easier! 👊

@paulfairclough6408 that was the biggest week I had ever done to be fair and wouldn't recommend that volume often.. I was going out for 25-30km runs almost daily. One Monday I went out 3 times and did 70km 😅 but my usual week is 1hr most days = 10km per day

Superb and so education to watch - and such fond memories being up in Snowdonai last year...' There's not many 51 year olds I know' well at the moment I'm 53 coming out of injury and enrolled into 2024 Trail Ultra ... (not the 1000km) just the 35 Miler may be next year - well done and I take my hat off to any one who can take a 100 km Mountain TRAIL RUN - its a BEAST!!!! Ooh you did the UTMB tooo OMG... does this qualify you to run with the UTMB Ultra Trail Mount Blonc ? Might have to change my enrollment.... Just watch the last 10 minutes and it reminds me of finishing XTERRA Trail Marathon and the bar was on the third flight up in my hotel in Anglesey - on lift.... what a beast to get room service 😅😂🤣
@997081 Жыл бұрын
thanks @2spoons I believe this helps towards entering the UTMB by collecting running stones. We got 3 stones for this distance. It's also a qualifier for Western States lottery if you complete the 100km or 100m race.
