Do you find some army paints are too watery when going on the miniatures like it's barely any colour paint added??
@robpaintsminiatures
@robpaintsminiatures 11 сағат бұрын
Are you talking about speedpaints or fanatic paints? Speedpaints, there are a few that barely give much (runic grey, battleship grey, some of the pastels), and in the fanatics range, some are thicker, and others are more opaque so.

Grey Primer > Dark Brown Wash > White Drybrush on the edges and top surfaces > Warrior Skin > Beige Drybrush > Peachy Skin. If you afraid of painting skin, try this recipe. Thanks me later.

Came out great. Anything Nemesis for me is just way out of my price range. Not keen on paying $130+ just for the base box, with no expansions/KS exclusives/etc. at the moment EDIT: Wanted to ask: What brushes do you use in this video for speedpaint/contrast? Thanks

I saw Free Folk and jumped immediatly into the canoe of a fellow Snow Gispy. Unfortunatly this first video is just about priming and feels a bit "disapointing" if I may. However more is to come and I am quite eager to see it. Q: what are the materials you used on your bases? Are you planning to talk about them in a future video?
@robpaintsminiatures

This is a 7 part mini series for the free folk army I used when I first started playing this game (haven't played in a while and haven't painted more but eventually I want to!). For the bases, I use a mix of dollar store sand and stones, I use Vallejo basing diorama texture paint, I use cork board, I use everything but the kitchen sink... To be honest I rarely show my basing on videos but maybe I should start! Wait I think i have some shorts on the bases! Keep browsing my videos and you might stumble upon them! Please subscribe if you haven't yet!

If you ever do want to use a can, I cannot recommend Tamiya spray cans enough. They’re small but the spray molecules are minuscule and leave an absolutely gorgeous finish for painting on because it’s meant to be used for miniature cars etc with a perfect finish.

I painted my first mini yesterday in over 6 years. But i had a hard time "painting" with the speed paints, it wasnt a shade nor a paint as i was having trouble. I love zombicide and will get back onto painting them so your series of zombicide is absolutely perfect. I hope your channel gets more notice as they are great and easy to follow and show real results. You have a new subscriber. ❤

Hey Rob! Wishing your wife the very best in recovery! Prior to application of the Speedpaints over zenithal, how much do you dilute your speedpaints? And with contrast medium? Water? Thinner? The result is really excellent!

I don't normally thin my speed paints but lately I have tried it with speedpaint medium or just simply keeping my brush a bit more damp. Thanks for the well wishes... she is still slowly progressing after almost 9 months.

I don't think its a waste of time, if anything it shows you can approach an undercoat in different ways. Plus me being an airbrush 'noob' help me which way I decide to prime a mini, and what colors to use.

Hello. Fan of the channel and i hope some time in the future to be able to paint my minis, using some of the techniques you are showing. On the topic know: this is actually Green goblin and not Hob Goblin. Green Goblin is Norman/ Harry Osborn and often is green/ purple in the comics while Hob Goblin is Ned Leeds/Robin Borne and Hqrry Osborn, and his colour scheme is more brownish-to-yellow/orange, something like that. Also, he is using Halloween themed weapons and tech*. There's difference in the debut comics as well- Gg is in #14, while Hg is in #238. *nvm the part of the weapons and tech, both Goblins are using Halloween themed.

Thanks for the clarification and for being a fan of the channel (much appreciated). I just now saw that this comment was held for review for some reason, thus the late reply. After posting the video I did some more research and did find out that CMON had not made a mistake and that it was me who was mistaken. Have a good, and go slay the grey!

Bony Matter may have worked better than Pallid Bone. It gives a good dusty skin effect that also works as bleached or aged wood. Do you ever apply a second coat to any of your skin tones?

I'm not versed enough in the Spiderman lore to know the difference between Green Goblin and Hobgoblin, but on the subject of under coats, one thing that I've had good success with on my Marvel Zombies minis is to use a purple base coat with white drybrushed on top. With transparent paints like this, the purple really interacts with the speed paints and makes the shadows more interesting.

I love the idea of these minis. I just wish they either were used in all the games or they were sold individually. It's hard to justify $30-40 for only one or two miniatures that apply to games I actually own. Great job with the painting!

Great idea for a video. Love how the Undead or Alive and Star Wars minis came out. Also the Age of Sigmar stuff is awesome too. I did a bit of grey slaying myself. Got Journeys in Middle Earth, base and both big box expansions done. Night of the living Dead - A zombicide game, Altar Quest base game, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Slaughterhouse, some expansions for Cthulhu Death May die, and started on Tainted Grail. Got my sights on finishing Fall of Avalon, along with Kings of Ruin when it arrives, Descent Third edition and Carnival Zombie: Mediolanum 2nd edition for 2025. Look forward to what you upload, Happy New Year Rob!

Yep, it seems to be the same stretch goal pattern across all of cmon's games. Tons of investigators/survivors/heroes, and less of the big baddies that actually add variety to the game. I think it's just easier to add these components without extensive play testing. But hey, they're "free", right?

I still would like to pick up Undead or Alive at some point, especially now since hype is pretty much centered on Marvel Zombies, and there are FAR less things to get for it. I am 100 % on board with more unique enemies of terrain for this style of games, but they always push the heroes out, that are usually not too different ability wise from all others. I like CMON, and I understand their company name is literally Cool Mini or Not, but I hope they dial back the number of minis ONE game could possibly have. I say this having backed C:DMD Season 5 lolol 😅

That IS disappointing. I just kind of expect miniatures that come on sprues to be of a higher quality. Speaking of quality: do you find Warhammer models significantly more enjoyable to paint than board game miniatures? I've only ever painted board game miniatures, but I'm curious about the GW stuff. My local store has one of the Underworld sets on sale for $60 USD, but that's still like $10 per model. Do think the miniatures are worth it, even for someone who has no interest in playing the game? Thanks!
@robpaintsminiatures
@robpaintsminiatures Ай бұрын
It depends on the board game... some minis are not great quality but then you can have games like marvel zombies that amazing minis. As for price, GW is a tad higher but their models are really nice... specially some of the newer ones. And frankly I like the age of sigmar minis more than the 40k (just for the variety and the theme. It is also fun that you can be a tad more imaginative with warhammer stuff in your paint schemes more than board gsme miniatures (if you follow the artwork). Thanks for watching and commenting.
