Hey bud really nice finish! What did you use for the rock platforms on your bases? Looks really nice!

Some cork pieces and then used some basing bits by epic basing and or sand and rocks mixture

As one thick coat over smooth wide surfaces it looks decent but anything with edges or details it sucks a$$ as a "one coat paint". Dry brushing is a solution to that issue but it adds an extra step obviously. Without the drybrush it leaves nearly pure white on the raised edges. Vallejo Metallic Air or regular Vallejo metallic paint with airbrush medium in a 2:1 paint to medium ratio gives you a fast, single coat paint with a wash and/or drybrush that looks much better in the same number of steps. P.S. I did test speedpaint as a wash(2:1and 1:1) with wash medium) over standard metallic and I thought the result looked better than the standard wash you'd normally use.

Speedpaints over a nice silver primer are amazing and even keep the silver shine to them... the metallic speed paints are not extremely great but can get the job done.
@fabiandelatorre25497 күн бұрын
Quick question is this straight out of the bottle or did you use medium?

Hey there, I've been watching your videos for quite a while now. May i ask what kind of primer you used here? If I had to guess I would say black primer first with a brown zenithal? Have a great day! 🤘🏼
@easterlingsminiatures9 күн бұрын
You would guess correctly... it was a black air primer then a light brown and a lighter brown zenithal

For my ASOIAF armies I am not a fan of magnetizing. You'll be removing and adding miniatures to the stand during play so much that having to individually pluck them out while also holding down the base is a pita
@easterlingsminiatures10 күн бұрын
I do agree
@TylerProvick10 күн бұрын
Great to see some alternatives. BTW, there seems to be a rise in ASOIAF playing at the Ottawa Miniature Gamers, spurred by a group that mostly plays out of Multizone. Not sure if you're hooked up with them. Get some games in with your painted armies

The Green Stuff World inks look quite good. However I tend to rely on layering for face and skin, cause it never turns out "right" for me when I use either Speedpaint or Contrast

A little late here, but this is great! It is so informative to watch the washes when applied like this. Qustion, if you don't mind answering. I considered using dark blue tone insted of just dark tone over my silver primed necrons to get a slightly more interesting metallic with a blue hue. Do you think it will make a notavle difference? Also considered a 1:1 mix of blue tone + dark tone? Any suggestions?
@easterlingsminiatures28 күн бұрын
I say if you have many of the same model, try the different tones you want to work with and then pick your favorite. Worse case is that you have to repaint the silver...

I actually really like the skin tone color of this speedpaint/ink/contrast/etc. I feel like what GW and AP have are far too "reddish" for my tastes. Also the GSW stuff here looks great. Would love that comparison, cause Speed/contrast painting for me I just am not "feeling" it, compared to traditional painting.
