Regarding Dove ad - overweight people need help (both psychological and physical) and not representation in games, especially where the main character is hopping around as an athlete and the shape does not make sense. Fantasy world games are a fantasy for a reason. Desexualizing women in such games would mean losing the corsets and ass-highlighting outfits for the armour, NOT making the character obese. Now the add recommends women to become overweight to avoid oversexualization and unfortunately many are turning this way. The point is not body positivity which attracts attention to separate body parts, but body neutrality, refocusing from particular shapes to capabilities. There is a normal regular body in variation of shapes and proportions in between these two extremes but of course normal is boring and not newsworthy so the brands will rather promote obesity than do what is actually needed for the betterment of society.

Agree with nearly all of your view points. I am on the fence with the B&Q one. It doesn't feel like a purpose oriented campaign to me. Its almost identical in tone to the Hornbach ads which speak to "the makers". I remember the "You can do it if you B&Q it" tag line as a kid. It seems like they're bringing it back to life.

I'm not a creative, in marketing or even a graduate. I'm not sure how I landed here tbh - the algorithm, I guess. I'm glad I did, though, as Rory is one of the most interesting people in the world.

There is no "Climate Crisis', there has been no increase in floods, droughts, tornadoes, hurricanes, or wild fires. There has been no rapid increase in sea level rise, or surface temperatures. CO2 does not control the climate. The Northern Hemisphere is 33% greener than it was in 1900, because of burning hydrocarbons. Wake up children.
