use bolt on bridge rectifiers
@SolarProjectsSweden
@SolarProjectsSweden 2 күн бұрын
@@jimw7916 Can you elaborate on your thought? By a bolt, I assume you mean a metal bolt and a Bridge rectifier are diodes too, but to convert AC to DC

@@SolarProjectsSweden they are a one inch block with a metal backface , containing 4 massive diodes. Perfect for the job. All he needs to do is bolt them to the metal pot.

Great video except for the constant annoying music 😂

@@davekisch402 Thanks. As for the music, I let the viewer choose whether they want background noise or whether it should be silent. If something happens in the video that might be funny or useful for the viewer to hear, like here when the diodes popped like popcorn from the heat, I remove the music and keep the sound on

I would think the 23V will back feed into the 12V and hence start heating up the 12V panel until it burns out.
@SolarProjectsSweden
@SolarProjectsSweden Ай бұрын
@@bloepje It is a standard that all solar panels are equipped with diodes. What the diode does is that the voltage can only go in one direction, so the 23 volts from the largest panel does not enter the smaller 12 volt panel

@@SolarProjectsSwedenPV panel is a current source, and a voltage is defined with an internal resistance and a load resistance. Diodes in PV panels are not blocking ones but bypass, and shunt substrings.
@SolarProjectsSweden

@@sc0or Aaah, you're absolutely right! The diodes in a solar panel are connected in parallel and it then becomes a bypass connection that only lets the current through in one direction. Due to the parallel connection, the diodes do not prevent the current from going backwards through the cells in the panel. Each panel must then be fitted with either a blocking diode or a fuse with the correct amperage/specification on positive (+) to protect each panel. This is what I love about KZbin; The enormous knowledge that the world possesses and is more than happy to share. You learn something new every day and knowledge is not heavy to carry. Thank you for your comment and also a little sorry to @bloepje as he/she was also on the right track. This made me so curious that I will try this parallel connection with different panels for real, just to see what happens in practice. The result of that might mean this video needs to be redone, we'll see.

Great video! What pump is required to this type of skimmer?
@SolarProjectsSweden
@SolarProjectsSweden 4 ай бұрын
Thanks! I'm using the original Bestway Flowclear filter pump with the capacity of 2006 liters/530 gallons per hour. My 396 cm/13 feet pool contains 12,500 liters/3,300 gallons of water. That pump manages to keep the pool crystal clear and has really good suction to vacuum the bottom when the hose is attached to the skimmer. So to answer your question; I guess any pool pump will be more than enough to handle the skimmer and vacuum.

Thanks. It works really good, but it can get better. I'm trying out some improvements and I'll go through them with the results in the next video. We took the first swim of the season this year on May 4 and we have used the pool more in these 17 days, then we did the entire summer of 2023, but there's still room for improvement.

This 350 USD prototype I'm trying out contains of 250 meters/820 feet of 20mm/¾ inch PEM hose with a total cost of 250 USD. 50 USD for the 20v barrel pump and 50 USD for the solar panel. A cheap, easy setup that will run for free only powered by the sun.
