What many SNP-types don't know is that James VI of Scotland had been King of Scotland for almost 36 years when he also became King of England in 1603, since Elizabeth 1 was childless and because Margaret Tudor had married James IV. So Scotland gave England its King in 1603, and our Royals families have been fused together since then.

When they carried her out 9f the Abbey, the band played Oft In The Stilly Night. The words were so fitting. "When I remember all the friends once linked together I've seen around me fall like leaves in windy weather. They weren't just "friends", they were the major players in the politics of the 20th century. And they all fell like leaves in windy weather.

King William the Bald and Queen Kate the Bland are so far removed from this.... the so called British monarchy will be a Southern English Monarchy on their watch. No pipes for those Englanders.

When the Queen Mother died in 2002, I was a little boy at the time. Then I saw in the news that "Queen Elizabeth of England died" (at least it was what I understood), so I thought it was Queen Elizabeth II who passed away (I'm not from the UK so I didn't know she also had a mother that also was a Queen Elizabeth, also I didn't actually pay attention at the news, so I didn't get the part that said it was the mother who died). And when I saw the monarch alive later I thought "hadn't she died? Did the queen ressurect?" After all, I was just a little boy at the time and I thought the Queen had returned from the dead! Only later I realised it was her mother that in fact died on that day. By the way, Queen Elizabeth II actually passed away in September 2022.

A very nice piece of film for a whole range of reasons.... It is genuine in its "you are really there" feel. The accoustics are excellent capturing both the pipes and the bass drum beats. The colour and music are wonderful and swirling. The slow accurate" hesitation" step of the Scots Guards Drum Major in gold state dress is the most perfect example the correct slow marching I have witnessed... Watch him,

I was disappointed with the BBC coverage of the Queen’s funeral. The Queen adored the bagpipes but Hugh Edwards & David Dimbleby saw fit to talk over the bagpipes incessantly. Typical of the BBC to try & make it about their nonsensical twaddle instead of just letting us immerse ourselves in the proceedings. To me very little commentary was needed, it wasn’t a royal wedding. It was a sombre cathartic experience for us all, a chance for us to lament her passing & we really did not need to have the likes of silly Cherie Blair pointed out to us.

It's almost impossible not to be moved by this. A most proper send off for a remarkable woman whom Hitler himself once called the most dangerous woman in Europe. As the evil Nazis began the Blitz of London etc many aristocrats sent their children overseas to Canada etc. They asked Queen Elizabeth what she was going to do. She said famously " the children will not leave without me, I will not leave without my husband and my husband the King will never leave". RIP
