The aggressor aircraft was actually the Douglas A4 Skyhawk flown by Chester in the TG school training scenes. The aircraft shown in this video is actually the earliest variant of the Northrop F5 Freedom Fighter and was painted black in the first Top Gun Movie and used as the fictions MIG 28 as hostile advisory aircraft.

My Toronto Film Society rented out the Dryden Theater one weekend a year for many decades to screen rare films. It was, and is, a unique treasure. We saw many nitrate 35 mm prints there. I hope it keeps going for another 100 years!
