I'm a dominican/black American. I found out recently why Haiti, that shares a border with the Dominican Republic, is poor: Because Citi Bank made Haiti pay reparations for freeing the slaves. Citi bank is owned by BlackRock. BlackRock benefits from the conflicts taking place in the world. They adhere to might makes right.

BlackRock didn't exist when Citi Bank did that to Haiti, but my point still stands. They profit from human suffering.

I think this election in the U.S.A. actually proved that might does not equal right. We were out spent. They had celebrities. They had BlackRock, which is the architect behind the forever wars. We had nothing but God and Musk. 😂

Agree with many things you say, including that social media nowadays has a lot of negative influence on the quality of the political discourse but I would be careful with framing it as reflecting „might is right“. As a counterpoint, I would argue that in international politics, we factually always had a might is right situation, where bigger/aggressive countries only could be held in check by smaller ones organizing themselves and confronting them, one might say that the United Nations was an attempt at that. But bigger countries such as the United States, Russia and China, often are tempted to ignore these institutions and enact their own agenda, as is reflected by the lacking support for certain UN bodies by them, including the international court of justice. Furthermore, social media has to the contrary the potential to a real democratization of political decision making, which is the opposite of „might is right“. The existing gate keepers and opinion makers such as the mainstream media cannot control and manipulate the narrative anymore and arguably they have not been fulfilling any corrective function to governments anymore, as their compliance with government gag orders shows. This can easily be seen by the fact that it took online platforms such as Wikileaks and whistleblowers such as Snowden to reveal the greatest scandals, and it was not journalists of these newspapers that uncovered it and newspapers were only (oftentimes rather reluctantly) reporting it. In case of Snowden, the guardian and other newspapers were also „cleansed“ and brought in line with the government standpoint (cp. how the UK government went and destroyed evidence and records there and Glen Greenwald had to leave and found „the intercept“ to still be able to report objectively). For social media, I see the main problem in their wrong incentive to monetize contents by pushing the most controversial topics and content to users. But otherwise, their role in allowing a reporting from all viewpoints and a real free discourse without much gatekeeping, has the potential to work against centralized actors who try to consolidate power and thereby govern via „might is right“. Anything that goes towards a decentralization and allows universal participation and influence by all people without gate keepers, should work in favor of democracy and counteract „might is right“. The crucial point is of course that these social media platforms are as much as possible freed from corporate or government influence and manipulation…

True intelligence is not just about logic but also about emotional embodiment. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and walks! ; )

Emotion is very necessary for decision making, as paradoxical as it sounds. I think degrees of irrationality contributes to the overall creativity of solving a problem, especially one as complex as language and therefor understanding. I can't really pin-point why it sounds reasonable to me, but it does. An example I could think of is spite, anxiety, fear or love which could affect how much of a priority is put into a topic and what kind of action can emerge from it. I find LLMs with weights on emotions really, really, really interesting. Chatbots are crazy nowadays. What is language without emotion?

I had never thought about emoting. I would like to think a little about it based on the sensations I get in my own life.Many people are unable to accept their own feelings of anger. So I think people have to live with the concept. I think that by honestly accepting one's feelings, one's own sense of self will emerge. This is because we recognize ourselves.

Regarding the risks of traffic accidents, we have already been riding in cars driven by humans, which could suggest that we have already accepted the possibility of accidents. From that perspective, even if autonomous vehicles cannot guarantee zero accidents, I think there may be potential to use them conveniently if we can be assured that their level of risk is lower than what we currently experience. Regarding the aspect of goal setting, I feel some doubt about AI determining goals rather than just routes. Human free will, when setting goals, emerges from the human brain. If AI were to determine goals, I think there could be a risk that human free will might struggle to interpret or accept the AI’s decision unless there is some connection between the human body and AI, or unless the human brain can understand the AI’s understanding.

I believe those points are extremely important. I believe that being too busy is something we should definitely avoid. Interestingly, in Japanese language, the character for "busy" uses an ideogram that conveys "losing one’s mind." In our modern, civilized society, it seems challenging not to lose one's mind. That’s why I believe it’s a crucial issue for us. Just as closing one’s eyes can make something seem nonexistent, losing one’s mind makes it impossible to recognize the butterfly moments. And it keeps us from regaining our inner child. So, I believe we should avoid being too busy. Additionally, I believe it’s problematic to perceive everyday life solely as a series of processes toward proxy goals or a single moonshot achievement. With that approach, if we don't reach the goal, does that mean we won’t be happy? And if we do reach the goal, will we experience only momentary happiness, only to get accustomed to it, necessitating new goals to give meaning to the rest of our lives, continuing to live as if life itself is just a series of processes? I think that's not ideal. In any case, I think it’s better if the process itself is both a goal and a reward. I was inspired by your insight. I felt that looking at the stars is very important. When I tried to look at the stars, I felt as if I was beginning to regain a part of my mind that I had lost.

The model that treats individual agents and the network as equals appears fractal, and I think it replicates nature on an even higher level than now. Because of this, breakthroughs like neural networks may once again be realized. It could greatly advance the intelligence of both AI and humans. It might also transform our understanding of what intelligence truly is. Additionally, by pursuing insights at a microscopic level, we might encounter something unknown, like when quantum mechanics was incepted. And if we can apply this approach at a macroscopic level, it could lead to an emergence of something entirely new, such as a higher, more complex form of collective intelligence, or even something akin to human free will. Furthermore, I feel that AI models represent a kind of meta-intelligence in relation to neurons. In this sense, your insights may also be connected to the realization of a meta-intelligence for AI models.

As a Japanese person, I feel both an admiration for the out world of the island and some fatigue with the island mindset. It feels a bit like being a-frog-in-a-well. I don’t know the out world well, yet I find myself drawn to it. Perhaps that’s why I want those who have ventured beyond a well to experience that world fully, and I admire them and want to cheer them on. Maybe only top runners can reach out worlds, but I think that most of us can make efforts to head in that direction. Even if we may never actually reach it, striving towards it, believing in the possibility, and sometimes facing despairs along the way, feels somehow not bad, good, at least better than suffering through the dullness of boredom.

I was thinking about the image of a person who prioritizes the senses. Shohei Otani is a sensory-first person. People live their lives while prioritizing concepts. In baseball, we are always aware of records. Records are always in the news. These are the characteristics peculiar to the concept of judging the present moment based on past data. But if you listen carefully to Otani's words, it doesn't seem to matter. It seems that the present moment is important. So he has to play the game and even if the result is bad, he has to play the game because he can learn from it. People with sense can do that. And it produces unexpected and surprising results. I was thinking about that today.

Our embodied consciousness is expressed in the same field from the field of consciousness that is different for each person, so it seems to create discrepancies. In the world of LLM such as AI, there will be almost no discrepancies. It seems that the world of human consciousness has the nature of being the same as the world that is different for each person.

Fascinating. The path of abstracting embodiment rather than equating it with robots and further expanding on it is intriguing. As you mentioned, I also think that human brain activity is not necessarily always embodied. For instance, some say that Satori (enlightenment) cannot be expressed in words, referring to this as Furyūmonji (the principle of non-reliance on words). And if embodiment were entirely absent, it would be impossible to physically exist in or impact the world, hold illusions like understanding, or communicate intentions through language. Also we wouldn’t feel assurance in using AI, either. Therefore, I think embodiment and the symbol grounding problem are important aspects not to overlook. Also, though AI operates in a mechanical way, it seems to process abstract information in a mechanistic manner by using embodied inputs to generate embodied outputs. This suggests that it may lack grounding in the physical world as level0, and it may not have direct compatibility with human symbols; however, given that humans perceive high intelligence in ChatGPT through indirect language, I’m inclined to think that it may possess a kind of intelligence.

Aromatherapy, sort of my field, is more like colours or sounds, or even entities in my consciousness. It's all linked to harmonizing and it can be achieved by observing the present astrology, etc. When it comes to grounding, we would use base notes such as patchouli, cedars, sandalwood, etc, heavy stuff. I would call 369 qualia, and the number 9 Absolute Qualia for now.

I thought that Japan today, being more ethnically homogeneous compared to the United States, might be related to the fact that its politics tend to focus on adjusting parameters. It could also be meaningful to look diachronically at the proportions of cause and effect in this relationship. However, I feel it is more pressing to understand Japan as it is now and to consider what steps should be taken next. That said, I sense that accurately understanding Japan's current political dynamics is likely challenging, and I worry that envisioning ideals might end up as mere theory rather than actionable reality.
@yoshikawa5807Ай бұрын
It's best to leave it up to people to embody the consciousness they think is possible, that is, what they think is possible within algorithms, and think about it in their own field. We would like to go beyond that and consider consciousness in the field.

Thanks to you, I recognized my misunderstanding. AGI generally is a single. Thank you. I was truly excited by the concept of meta-intelligence taking on roles such as portfolio management from a level above AGI. I also felt that the meaning of meta-intelligence could possibly extend beyond just portfolio management. Moreover, I imagine that the training data for meta-intelligence might not be limited to data that humans can understand, as is the case with current AI, but could also include more opaque, black-box aspects of current AI. As for measuring that intelligence, IQ seems unsuitable. In contrast, a measurement based on task difficulty provides a more black-box approach, which might allow for objective application even if AGIs are black-boxes. Additionally, if such AGI is to be realized, its training data might be as vast as an entire world, presenting a challenge in how to even perceive it.
@Jade15888Ай бұрын
And then, qualia can be changed artificially by coding genomes in our DNA, in my theory, if we choose to. It's not impossible at least in my theory. Or perhaps we can use chemicals in our brain to achieve enlightenment.

I find the insight of the interaction between convergence and divergence to be truly brilliant. If I were to raise a potential challenge with this concept, it would be that as the combination of factors increases, discrepancies could expand, potentially leading to issues. I think that the comprehensive convergent parts of intelligence are formed not by a single factor but by the complex interplay of multiple factors. Here, let us assume that each factor is managed by a separate AI. Suppose each AI has an accuracy of 0.95 and a discrepancy rate of 0.05. If only one AI is involved from the input provided by a human to the resulting output, the accuracy remains high at 0.95, allowing humans to perceive a high level of intelligence in the AI. However, as the factors become more complex and the number of involved AIs increases to n, the overall accuracy would become 0.95^n, which suggests that as the number of combinations grows, so too would the discrepancies. As a result, if the overall accuracy isn’t sufficiently high, humans might find it difficult to perceive a high level of intelligence. In the case where this combination involves a single person or a group of humans instead of AIs, discrepancies may be detected and adjusted, making issues comparatively less likely. However, with the combination of multiple AIs, since AIs lack subjective human understanding, there may be a risk that they are unable to detect discrepancies.
