Very nice 400. Had a new 01 400ex but had to sell it. Everyonr said to get a 450r so i dod and I didnt like it bc I ride tight technical trails and the 450r didn't like being lugged. After 2 years of looking I found a 2013 400x with ab 3 hours on it and I couldn't be happier. If I rode on a track or dunes I would have kept the 450 but I ride woods and hills.

Always oil coolers. Makes these air cooled bikes run so much cooler. I've overheated them on really hard, slow trail riding and they begin to run like shit. Oil coolers 100% fix that issue

I know I'm a little late to the party But how did the extra oil cooler hold up after all these years? and did it in your opinion make a difference? I'm buying a 440 and trying to figure out ways to keep it cool

This in no way will lower your temps by 30 degrees...not even close. Anyone who has tried this, check your temps where the upper cylinder head meets the lower.

All you had to do was take a heat gun to it and it would have went back to the original color. Without an adhesion promoter it’s not gonna hold up. It will scratch easily.

Never never never ever pound your bearings in. The way I do it with a 100% success rate is to heat the case on the oven at 350 for 10 minutes and bearing in freezer for half an hour. They literally fall right into place

So were you able to use the OE 350X axle nuts? Or do you need the 450R axle nuts? 🙂

Why would you leave the old stickers on? Gonna look pretty ghetto. Acetone or Isopropyl Alcohol will clean that seat faster and better without damaging the material unless it is very worn.
