I did this and the bar fell off while I was driving and I couldnt steer.

Will be perfect if you install any fan cover to concentrate the air flow.

Hello, What's your experience so far with the swap? Any over-heating? Why did you need to change the power steering pump and line? Did you follow a more detailed write up? Thanks for the video, I would appreciate if you could answer the questions.

That's way better than my tactic of pulling the wheel straight when I park it. Out of sight, out of mind, my #1 safety rule. I also live up north, which is why I replace whole tie rods instead of tie rod ends. I did the torch trick once, and I think I'd rather it be tax season every month instead of doing it ever again. I dipped this tie rod in farm implement enamel and soaked the bare thread in 5w20. We'll see what happens.

Mine eventually stopped spinning and my wheel still isn’t straight. Love that for me

I just had this swap completed today August 17,2023. It works, but it does get hot, almost 3/4 of the way, then fan kicks in. Makes a lot of noise btw, but oh well, at least it wont overheat. Btw, the power steering pump from 4.0 I6 wont bolt in according to mechanic. You need to use the pump from '99 or 2,000 WJ which DOESNT have the higher pressure line for the hydro system. And will have to find a smaller fan blade because this one is too tall, shroud wont bolt back in without hitting blades. Might have to get the Chevy fan blade. Other video used Chevy fan clutch and blade and shroud dropped right on.

My mechanic just tried to install the 4.0 pump, he said it doesnt fit, the reservoir wont let it bolt into place. He asked what yr WJ 4.0 pump? This vidoe doesn't say. Idk what to do now. 😢

Great video. My WJ is overheating and my hydraulic system/assembly is shot. Was thinking of doing electric fan conversion, but would have to find who can do it. But this fix seems cheaper and much quicker to do. But my question is, why change power steering pump off my 4.7 V8 to the one from the 4.0 I6, no space for fan? I want to do this very soon, its hot here in beautiful Florida, and want to take trips, because everything is far. Then I continue with other Jeep issues I have. Thanks.

Ok guys. Some very important info I'd like to share. So the temp sending unit on front top of motor works in a fashion. That when cold or ambient temperature not been ran. Temp below 100 degrees. The sensor has max resistance. Then as motor warms the resistance depletes down to nil. Ok. Now the fan speed solenoid works opposite. The least amount of current going through it the faster fan spins the more current the slower. So in a sense the warmer viechle gets. The warmer it's gonna get. Cause it slows Dan speed all jeeps have same problem. It's a programming error. The hydrofan is hands down the most elite cooling fan for least added resistance because power steering pump always has same resistance on motor. In a sense when fan is running hard. There is less resistance on motor. Just gotta get rid of the electric fan temperature sensor and get one that works backwards. When viechle is warm. The resistance is high. When cold. Is less. Fact is when you unplug temp sensor so solenoid gets no current fan spins fast

There are only two cats upstream with sensors, that last or 3rd small "muffler" is a resonator and has nothing to do with emissions. I cut out both the muffler and resonator and strait piped mine. It sounds amazing and will still pass smog.

The fan trout does fit. You definitely need to put it back on for proper cooling. The fan can't suck air through the radiator without the fan shroud on

I would but mine has over 190k miles and while it runs it needs some work because it’s only getting 10mpg city here Los Angeles. Maybe some spark plugs, tranny fluid and filter and fuel filter but that’s it.

What year of power steering pump did you use because I plan on doing the same type of set up

Do not run without the shroud you are just beating the air, the shroud directs the air through the radiator

Did you use the power steering pump from a 4.0 grand Cherokee or explorer. Did you use the lines from a 4.0 as well?

This looks like one of the steps done in a wheel alignment. I just had the alignment done for my 2004 WJ Laredo V8, and the steering wheel is tilted about 5 degrees off level when the wheels are dead straight. The alignment tech told me that the steering wheel would have to be removed to correct that tilted steering wheel, but looking at this video, the fix for this issue is to adjust the length of that steering linkage rod, without removing the steering wheel and airbag in order to reposition the wheel dead straight.

I replaced the tie rod ends and problem solved, so far 2 years without the demonic shaking.
