I don't get everything, I just get a few things from every day. I don't like to get every alert from every channel, that high energy stuff isn't me anymore. I just like recording an alert. No screaming, no talking, just a radio.

Thanks and welcome back to you too! I kinda got the itch to start recording weather alerts again earlier this year. So I got a couple of the old RadioShack radios out of the shed, and bought myself a new 12-262/12-521, and just started recording. I’ve missed this so much. I actually found a old SD card with alerts I recorded up to mid 2021, but never uploaded. Some of them are cringy, but I may upload them as a video “From the Archive” 😂

No they didnt! They didnt with this weeks either.

I may try to get a WXK97 weekly sometime too

Something about these old RadioShack radios just make me enjoy catching alerts again!

Wont be uploading as much as I used to in 2018-2019, but I want to upload some alerts as I find time and enjoy it. I also will probably be uploading more EAS individually or in shorter videos rather then the long 1 hour videos I used to to. A lot less work and they tend to preform better in watch time.

yeah a little while ago I unlisted a bunch of my old videos and kinda "abandoned" this channel as I wasnt into EAS as much. But I decided I wanted to start uploading some EAS catches here and there now. It wont be the high-energy 1 hour compilations of the past as that was a lot of work and I dont find enjoyment in that anymore. Just me and my 4 remaining radios (12-522, 12-993, 12-996, WR-300). I did have a bunch of unreleased EASs from mid 2019 to mid 2020, probably would bring me well into the 2000's number of EASs I caught, but they've been mostly lost. If I find some of them, I might make a "From the Archives" series. basically dont expect to see hundreds of EASs a month uploaded here anymore, but you know maybe a dozen or so. Weather, although not what I make my entire life anymore, still intrigues me, so when I hear the beeping of a weather radio, I just might pick up the camera and upload a video. Ill be working on retitling a bunch of videos to be less cringy and more of something id like to be out there from me, as well as making a bunch of old videos a made public again, with some edits possibly if needed. Oh and the new thumbnails with the blue triangle, how do you like them? Still torn if I want to go with a thumbnail with text and colored backgrounds on them or if I will just grab a shot of a radio from the video and just make that the thumbnail unedited. Lemme know.

follow up to this: i did make a playlist with the new thumbnails in it, if you want to check it out to see what they look like. Oh and i saw some EAS youtubers making shorts instead now? Shorts arent really what i want to make the whole channel but what do you think of a short here and there. Might make the content more interesting and popular possibly. I dont know though as i enjoy the long-form, unedited raw EASs.

personally its an ok radio. Yes, the camo is really cool, but in terms of functionality, i never really got it to go off for alerts, i dont know if mine has an issue or if all hh51/50s are really screwy to work with

Im on my third or fourth 522. unfortunately they have issues with tuners failing somewhere. I tried to do a little poking around to find the issue, but this is not my expertise and im to dumb to try and work on electronics like these. But, maybe one day a group or someone could find the issue, and repair these continue to become more rare radios. But i love the 522s, their great radios if it weren't for the fragility issue. Mine stays on the desk 24/7, but if it were more robust, id take it as my primary portable.

i came back and went away, now im kinda back again. Ill from now on be uploading a couple EASs here and there, but not the high-energy mega compilation stuff i did way back in the day. Just making it into something i enjoy just uploading a video without any work.

lol i came back and left again. but ive decided now that i wanna upload a couple EASs a month or few months. it wont be the old high energy, highly edited content anymore, but just a simple unedited recording like my latest video. thats where i enjoy EASs and not the content creation side. Just want a simple place to share my experience without having to put a lot of thought and work into it. i hope you enjoy it too.

getting a lot of alerts, i thought in the beginning, was going to be only something i could dream of. but after some time, you learn how to get thousands of EAS alerts after a few years

Ian Born your missing the point. If you recorded the broadcast with your own camera your fine but if you take my video and reupload it in a way that is not fair use, that is a violation of copyright law

SevereWeather_YT Couple Possibilities, 1: select "ALL ON" under "SET EVENTS", Make sure your radio is on and has good reception, and 3, your NWS office may not tone WSW or WSA at certain times or even at all. For example, NWS State College does not tone WSA, they also do not tone WSW between Midnight and 7 AM

ThunderBuddy01 Thanks! Unfortunately recently both 522's have had several issues and I'm probably going to get another one. I've gotten unlucky with 522 and 521, as almost every one has issues with only light use, so hopefully someday I will find a perfect working one

Cold Energy I didn't catch any today, all the severe weather stayed to my North West. I can get a station outta there but is heavily interfered with and only get it in one spot in my attic. If I find a better spot you bet I'll be getting alerts from it next season, as we head in to winter weather season here
