This goes hand in hand with loving unconditionally. Our natural tendency is to treat others the way they treat us, instead of loving them through the bad days and good. One of the hardest things is giving a sweet response when someone is grumpy or just plain mean. Proverbs 15:1

❤ In my experience and option, this is is the truth of humility that scripture teaches and God loves. My heart aches for those who don't understand the importance of humility and the harm they do themselves and the dishonor they give God. I know the pain and damage because of my own battle with pride. But I have a question about what you said. If it is true, and I think that you are correct, that it's by God's mercy and grace we even choose to seek Him and to do good... how does it work then if someone doesn't choose to turn from evil or doesn't choose to be humble? Is God keeping His grace from that person? My heart aches for a loved one to receive healing in this area as they are very prideful and years and years I've been praying for them... 😔 I don't understand. And I don't expect you to have an answer but maybe you can see something that I can't...
@jareddoddtheblessedfamily
@jareddoddtheblessedfamily 3 ай бұрын
Excellent question. The Bible teaches that all of us, outside of God, are evil. Outside of God, we don't seek God (Romans 3:10). And so, God would be just to send all of us to Hell. But, because He is also a God of mercy, He chooses to open the eyes of His elect from every nation, tribe, and tongue. Therefore, the answer to your question is, yes. God gives some people justice and other people grace, but no one receives injustice. God is just and right and good to give the majority of people what they deserve (justice), while He gives His church what they don't deserve (mercy.) The ark is a good picture of this. Everyone, including Noah and his family, deserved to wiped away in the flood. But because of His great mercy, God saved Noah and his family. The best teaching I've seen on this principles are from the late RC Sproul. Here's a great video series I would recommend below. Thanks so much for engaging in this! Blessings!

What are the rites of passage you or Amy do with your daughters? Or are your experiences for both sons and daughters?
@jareddoddtheblessedfamily
@jareddoddtheblessedfamily 3 ай бұрын
I LOVE that you are looking into this for your girls! Our girls do the same 7 year old and 10 year old rite of passage as the boys. The rite of passage at 13 was different for our boys and girls. The boys climb the grand canyon in a day but Ivy didn't want to do that. I think it can be a great rite of passage for a girl, overcoming if they want to give up, but honestly doing weekend cooking classes or something would be just as useful. For Ivy we just did the same rite of passage as 10 because we weren't prepared for a new one. But brainstorming for something special for girls, there could be cooking classes, a ladies weekend conference, volunteering at a nursing home and playing games with them or singing or whatever they do, volunteering at a homeless shelter giving out food etc. Honestly, some of those sound really good for boys and we may want to incorporate them! But I would keep in mind one of these 3 things when choosing a rite of passage, 1. Will it help equip them for adulthood? 2. Will it take them out of their comfort zone mentally or physically where they need to learn to overcome hardship? 3. Is it something big that they can do to die to self? (Like loving on people in senior homes or volunteering somewhere etc). The sky is the limit with ideas. Hope this helps! -Amy

@@jareddoddtheblessedfamily thank you Amy! We only have our 1 yr old girl so far (prayers for the Lord to provide siblings). Serving others and “the least of these” for the Lord is the greatest joy. I did ministries with special needs, the homeless, troubled children, food pantry, etc. I had a couple jobs with seniors, but I enjoyed being like family to them! Those things you mentioned are all great ideas for daughters and our family in general to make relationships and witness to! My husband and I are grateful for your ministry.

with all due respect showing that a person can love anyone is a positive thing but having it to where it is just what the show is about is just bad writing, this is not a show of hate for the LGB but it is a show of respect to not have it the target focus, because quite simply... not everyone is gay, the media needs to reach the equilibrium where every type of person is included and when that happens everything will be better #makemediagreatagain

Thank you again Amy! Another book if you haven’t heard of it: Eve in Exile by Rebekah Merkle (Doug Wilson’s daughter) was a great discussion book with my mother in law and sisters in law about the history of feminism and the value of women being in the home for their husbands and children as God designed. Lies Women Believe was great (read the updated version) also studied it with the women in my family. Readers should know ahead of time that the author Nancy didn’t get married until she was 57. Not a homeschooler perspective of things specifically, but she supports the same view God has towards children. Other books they just came out with: - Lies Girls Believe - Lies Young Women Believe - Lies Men Believe (written by her husband Robert)
