With the right advertising and hype I think the TBS market has gotten massive because of baldurs gate 3 and needs more new stuff out there. Marvel has a massive crowd because it's marvel but so many people I know don't even know what xcom is but if they did I believe they'd rather have that than another marvel thing. Marvel is becoming over saturated.

I dig the game but I have some gripes, mostly the cheesy voice acting and the whimpy sounds of the colonial weapons, those guns should sound sharp and thumpy, they don't.

What do you mean, you like it? Are you joking? Dragging slots from one bag to another isn't helping much, when you are looking for more inventory space, and the only option to get more is to buy them using the store, AND YOU LIKE IT?! At least half of my inventory is full of task items I could turn in, BUT there is a task per day limit. But no problem, I can just buy a reset or even more to the daily limit, and let me guess, YOU LIKE IT?!

Can they for the love of god at least port Xcom Enemy Within for ps5, xbox x, and switch while we wait for Xcom 3? Even if it never happens please port the first game!

Hopefully it's never gonna happen. Enemy Unknown/Within was substandard in comparison to the OG. XCom 2 was even worse. Neither game was anywhere as good as the originals and the entire premise of the second was weak, poor storytelling and revisionist. The oversimplifed game loop, the reductionist revision of base placement and building to a single linear progression, and the overall dumbing down of the mechanics were disrespectful to the source material, fans, and new players. I'm sure I'm going to get ratioed by fanboys unable to be objective about it, and that's fine. I've got a few hundred hours in both new entries and several thousand hours in the OG series, so it's hardly an uninformed statement.

When I saw the gameplay of Midnight Suns was just a battle arena with the strategy essentially non existent I lost interest completely. I did eventually pick the game up on a huge sale and I did kinda enjoy playing it, but it does NOT scratch that same itch as Xcom. It also has a few particularly abrasive characters that the game wants you to care about but you just don't (Magik). I definitely would have rather had Xcom 3. (Or a FFT remake)

I've been waiting for long while. I really want to play the new xcom game already. But they should add more people in your squads.

I'm literally playing xcom 2 long war of the chosen after doing a marathon of both games (2 months in so far) I am also one of the few who played the originals on amiga back in 95. I was hoping they were going to make X-com 3 terror from the deep, following from the original sequel that went to mars to end the aliens once and for all.

what I want to know is why they wasted time and good standing with the fan base by letting chimera squad become a thing. "sorry no xcom 3 but here's an xcom game with literally none of the stuff that players expect from an xcom game"

Those who started developing Marvel should forget the word X-COM. I was waiting for X-COM 3 from Feraxis, but today I hope they won't do it...

I hope not. The spin-off was already going sideways and I think we can wait another 10 years for the current DEI b.s. passes away. Then we can get back to the basics that made X-Com the triumph that it was.

Midnight Suns was decent - hit some right spots for me - tho it did not scratch my Xcom itch. I hope we will get Xcom after civ 7

Napyet - Can you do a video on how the Hacking Stat, Both for Enemies and the players Specialist work? Then how to make a Hacking Specialist OP? I don't see many videos covering Hacking on XCOM, even thought it can be very strong and save a lot of time in some missions when your backs against the wall.

You can bypass choosing the number of the item by just doing a dry run on the individual part. The tool will remember what you chose and always open to that until you change it.

It takes a while to catch up but then you get rhythm of it and it shines

The work they had put in Xcom2 will probably never be reached, It is a fantastic game. incredibly balanced but also challenging. I hope for the sequel they will manage to get close to its greatness but I doubt it.

Marvel Midnight Suns actually fucking rules and you missed out heavily if you skipped it it's such a fucking banger of a game.

I think how they mixed things in midnight suns put people off, the getting to know each other standing around for ages and talking might appeal to sims players , but they wont play an xcom game with marvel chars, and an xcom player like me would buy it but as soon as I saw reviews saying how long you have to stand around pissing about with 'feelings' before you get to do anything I went 'ah sims' and it went off my radar instantly. Just asked my wife who's a massive sims player if she would play xcom with marvel characters, after a look like id just spat at her I got a very snarky 'no' and she went back to her phone , didn't consider it at all 😂

Midnight suns needed a demo. I heard it was a card game and ignored it until it got a free weekend, and was surprised by how much I loved it. "Superhero turn-based card tactics RPG" is just a weird jumble of words that will all turn off different groups people. By having to get past a $60 paywall to even try it out they sabotaged their own game. I'm sure a lot of people would have liked it if they just got to check it out without buying.

Midnight Suns didn't succeed because Marvel is for normies thanks to the MCU, and the only games normies play are action games with massive production values that have full voice-overs, minimal-to-no reading, photorealistic graphics, and motion-capture animation, all done to make the game look indistinguishable from a movie. More specifically, THE MCU movies, which means they also expected to see and hear Robert Downy Jr., Scarlet Johannson, and all the other Hollywood holes whose names I can't remember and who could take a one-way trip to Mars for all I care. So when these normies see instead that it's a slow-based turn-based tactical strategy game starring a bunch of no-name characters they don't remember seeing in any movie, and all the faces they do recognize look and sound like cheap imitations of their MCU counterparts, they tune out. Lesson of the story is that mainstream audiences don't go for niche gameplay or cheap Hollywood substitutes. Mainstream audiences only want mainstream stuff, and trying to appeal to them as the expense of your actual fandom will spell failure for you. At the point, I don't care if XCOM 3 never comes out. I don't think Firaxis has the talent left to make it anymore.

God i wish they change the direction of the graphics/style and make it more realistic. I am kinda sick of the caroonish wow/wildstar/no man sky style :) Make Star Wars Galaxies, but with a modern touch :D

I don't know why, but when I play XCOM 2 regardless which console or platform, I keep making custom recruit pools. These pools are typically filled extensively with all the Tutorial NPCs (Peter Osei, Ana Ramirez, John Bradford, Jane Kelly etc), Lily Shen (if I can find her model in the game files) and all the Recruits from the Legacy Operations. I don't know why, but I grow attached to those characters lol 😂 The Recruit Pool is then finished off with some Firaxis Employees and irl people I know.

I keep having the bug to play XCOM 2, but pc & ps5 broke. Can't wait for Ps5 Pro and playing again. I hope I'm XCOM 3 they bring back Vahlen and she leads part of Science Enhancements/Biological Augmentation of Aliens then Tygan focuses on developing Scientific Improvements for further expanding the arsenal of the Humans.

Unfortunately the executives that make these poor decisions in the gaming industry are seldom held accountable. I don't hold much hope for the game being made, and less hope that it'll hold a candle to its predecessors.
